This is now my Sam song for pre-s6/6.01. Seriously. I just. In love with that song.

Also have heard the full song for the the trailer that's on the MCR site, Na Na Na, and am freaking nuts for it. Looking forward to sometime driving very fast to it.

re: WoW. Got heroic Sindrigosa \o/ Then we promptly screwed up, and did the Waiting A Long Time For This LK achievement wrong, tracking the wrong debuff. Fffffffff. It was a raid ID extention, too, so we have to wait until next Wed. to do it the right way and finally get our 10man drakes. So freaking disappointed. In the meantime, allegedly going to get the last achieve we need for the old Ulduar rusted protodrakes Sunday, just for the hell of it (hopefully Algalon, too).

Weird mood continues. Saving some fic in tabs for some reason the last few days instead of reading right away, while then rereading other older fic. Don't ask me why. I don't get me.

Ohyeah, and the mic part of my headset decided to go bad like out of the blue. One second it was fine, the next it's all fucked up and my talking's coming through as horrid static. It's weird, because the headphones part's just fine. And I don't hear it--but everyone else hears it. I dunno. I know they're old, like probably between 4-5 years old, but still, it's odd.

ETA: and this http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858838511/ (Linkin Park - Iridescent) is so, so a Sam during Swan Song song. Good golly. ♥ And I imagine it's obvious that I'm really liking their A Thousand Suns CD. :| Really, really liking. :| (Time to sign off before I start spazzing about The Catalyst, too.)
whitereflection: (sam losing it (all))
The yay is that we got heroic 10m Putricide in WoW last night. It really is a cool thing, and the result of a lot of work. Only two more achievements left for the 10man drakes (heroic Sindrigosa and the Waited A Long Time For This one).

Really, really down today. A moodswing from being up/manic/productive last week, I guess. And I'm worried about one of my cats--Missy (aka cat 3 of 4), the maine coon. What we thought was a mat of fur is an about third inch growth on her skin, and I'm going to have to get her to the vet. Don't know if it's something that's infected/inflamed, or if it's a tumor of some sort.

But also, fandom is just...making me sad right now. I thought it was bad enough to see/hear about such hate for my favorite character, but to know how people are being to each other now...it's just really disheartening. I do not understand the meanness, the hurtfulness, even the swearing at each other. I just don't comprehend it. Aren't we in this for a common love of this show and it's characters? Even if you don't like all of the characters or parts of the show, don't people know how to be respectful and considerate of others, to know that something you say horrible things about might be something that someone else likes or even loves?

I guess for me...well, I'll put it simply. I like Sam Winchester. I like Jared Padalecki. I like fanworks, whether they be gen or slash or even RPF/RPS. I like Supernatural--and I will, I am pretty damned sure, continue to like it. But most of all, most importantly, I like you. There's a reason I friended you all, and there's a reason I keep you as friends and hope you keep me as well. I greatly appreciate that I can share in your lives in these small ways, and share in this common love of the show Supernatural, its characters, and cast/crew.

Please, just be excellent to each other?

Anyway. Stuff I have to do first, but what I want to do is find feel-good, uplifting, hopeful fic and just hide and wallow. Though I also kind of want to see if I have a DVD of Bill & Ted, and watch it and try to get rid of this stupid urge to cry I've had since waking up. I'm too old to be like this--I'm 37 not 17.

Blahblahblah WoW... Got Wynn her 2pc of t10 finally, and finally got my dk to Northrend. The best part of which is he's my alchemist, so the moment I dinged 68 on him, I made him transmute spec and ground out the skill to 450. That toon should be handy to have going into the next expansion.

Saw the "Supernatural - Fun with Real Audio (Advertisement Edition)" vid recced a couple days ago, and I think I'm going to watch it every freaking day because it makes me crack up so much. Perfect. :p Fandom needs to remember to laugh more often.

Made cinnamon rolls just now (from a can, but the http://www.immaculatebaking.com/ is good, so much better than the usual Pillsbury thing). And have a crockpot of curry stew started. So I guess today will be okay (except man, I really don't want to do more heroic Putricide work this evening in WoW. I know we're so close, but bleeeeah.)

And sort of a weird p.s., but I thought maybe it was worth saying. I know I'm not good at writing, but I seem to be willing to do the 'try, try again' thing, even when I think that maybe I'm at a wall and simply don't have the capacity to improve. I do want to try to get better, and don't mind it if people point out ways of doing so, even just to say something's not good/outright bad/done wrong. So, long way of saying criticism's okay, yeah? Anyway.

Really starting to feel like fall outside. ♥ Finally.

Hey, self. When you drink a bunch of rasberry apple cider, which is, you know, incredibly *red* and then go and brush your teeth, try to remember about the whole incredibly *red* bit. And not, you know, have a nice moment of panic that something in your mouth is bleeding. Dimwit.

Speaking of bleeding, hooray for fingernails. If not for those, I probably would have lopped the tip of my thumb off. I should be trusted with knives just about as much as I should be trusted with ovens. (Or toasters, per yesterday's incident that set off the smoke alarm after charring a split roll so bad the toaster had a cloud over it. I just... Yeah. /sigh)

Had gotten ingredients to do all the things from this http://theeconolodgediaries.blogspot.com/2010/06/another-arabian-night.html blog post last Friday pre-cold, so made myself start putting things together today. Really don't have the energy for it, but the stuff will go bad if I don't, and a good bunch of the vegetables and the meat were from that little farmer's market place (http://www.tomatotomato.org/) so that'd be a huge waste. All that's left is the potatoes, at least, and broiling the lamb patty things.

Edit: Ugh, must learn to not hit return while fussing with tags. Oh hey, it posted, what \o/

Anyway, heroic Putricide 10 down to 7% last night. So close. And totally unrelated, mmmmmm, Sam Jared Jared Sam, mmmmmmyeah. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah. ♥ Gives me a little sparkle. :)

Back when the handful of us left Dauntless and started our 10man guild, Woken Too Soon, we weren't even going to raid until Cataclysm, at all. We're still mostly casual now, only doing 2 nights a week at most--though we're now running solidly guild, including two consistent 'non-guild but might as well be guild' friends. Tonight, we were just going to 'poke at' Lich King, since most of us haven't seen that encounter in months (and even then, only a couple had seen him down--in 10s--and people like me had only seen until phase 2 from Dauntless' 25man raids). Two of the group hadn't even seen the fight at all.

B'awww. Yeah, I gotta pony up the ten bucks. :|

Sporting a couple of new bruises, thanks to dealing with the branch that took out our power line Wednesday. One on my shoulder from carrying (one part of the branch took two of us to carry, the main part took all three of us to get it from the back out to the driveway), and one on my leg where part smacked against it repeatedly when I was trying to brace it while James sawed part off (handsaw, we don't have a chainsaw). Not sure what we're going to do with the branch debris (see the no chain saw bit), but since our driveway's wide we can leave it all sit there maybe until I can get someone over to prune the storm damage and run that stuff through a chipper.

I do need to remember to call Cox in addition to the power company about the power line--even with the branch off the cable line, it's still hanging down so low to drape over the fence and touch the ground. I'm surprised it's working. Even though it wasn't pulled away from the house like the power line, it's so stretched. >_o

Beware of stupid WoW babble:
Omgomgomg won the Kalu'ak fishing derby on Ak, woooooooooooooooooooooo \o/ That is such a pain in the *butt* to accomplish. Then I only had one thing left to get his Accomplished Angler (http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=1516) achievement--the rare fish/One That Didn't Get Away one. I've been trying for a Dark Herring (http://www.wowhead.com/item=44703) since WotLK started, and have never managed it, but after hours of fishing in the afternoon, got it :D (of all the rare fish, it's one of the few to be a weapon, I mean it's a dagger but it looks like a fish, so you can kill things *with a fish* \o/ ) So *FINALLY* Ak has Accomplished Angler and thus the title of "Salty". This amuses me more than it should. (What can I say--I'm one of the few WoW players that *likes* fishing. I even max the skill out on all my alts. If there was anyone that should try to get that achievement, it's me--and it was driving me nuts after working on it these past couple years that I still hadn't finished it. :p Felt so lucky yesterday, I nearly went and bought a lottery ticket. :p :p )

Bah.

Way back at the start of the year, I saw someone on my flist at the time mention making a resolution to make a post a day for 2010, and I thought that was a cool thing, decided to try it as well. Figured it would be kind of a good thing since these past few years at times I get stuck in my head and could go a month or even several months without saying anything. Missed yesterday though, since I just had absolutely nothing to say and no stupid links to share. So I guess I'm not gonna stress about trying to do that anymore. At least I did it for 6 months and near a week.

On the WoW side of things, worked on ICC10 hardmode stuff, got the ones for Marrowgar, Festergut and Rotface (and of course Lootship). Will try BQL on Monday and Deathwhisper/Saurfang on next week's run. Not bad considering Woken Too Soon's still casual and was running with several non guild people (friends, though, not true pugs).

Stumbled on this song on my iTunes playlist, just was floored all over again how breathtakingly beautiful the music from this movie was. At least we do have this one on DVD since god, I want to watch it again so very much. But realized in that time where we threw out old, all but dead fansub tapes and boxed up all our commercial VHS tapes that while we got DVDs for Laputa, Kiki, Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away, we never for some reason got around to getting the DVDs for Totoro, Nausicaa or Whisper of the Heart. (Criminy, I *need* to see Whisper of the Heart again). I dunno, I'm in a mood. It's nostalgiamelancholy or something.

Got to try the Ruby Sanctum instance (10man) with the guild tonight, or all 7 of us plus James' alt mage and a couple pug people. Figures on our 'okay this is it last attempt' of the night we were able to finally get Halion down. And figures the only good dps caster loots are from the 25man.

Made a sort of pad thai-ish style stir fry this evening with the leftover peanut sauce from a few days ago. I think I'm enamored with rice noodles now--so going to use those instead of just plain rice when I do a curry again.

Aaron gifted me with Torchlight via Steam (games there are so *cheap* at times, it's amazing). Cannot wait to try it. ♥

Made http://annies-eats.com/2010/06/08/fettuccine-with-peas-asparagus-and-pancetta/ but with whole wheat penne instead of fettucini and shallots instead of green onion. Also included julienned red pepper and 1/2 c shredded asiago cheese and a couple tablespoons grated peccorino romano cheese. Not bad.

Got Wynnchester (horde paladin) to 62, finished her paladin charger quest yesterday--didn't need to do it since they train the epic riding mount now, but wanted the special blood knight tabard. I've wanted that tabard since BC beta when I wished Ak could have it only to find it was paladin only. Levelling a paladin continues to be so freaking easy. Switched back to using ret primarily, and good grief stuff dies fast, and no mana problems at all.

Crystal-cat still moves like an arthritic 100 year old, which is really what she is, but since they upped the prednisone dosage she's actually moving around the house again instead of just sleeping in Mom's room all day. She came down here and (after several tries) got up on the couch to her "spot"--first time she's done that in several weeks, I think.

The mother got a massive craving for Thai food today, and insisted on buying some. Not our usual place (their annual trip home time, so they're closed until July), but still good. Thus, I had my beloved Thai-style sweet and sour chicken (omg tons leftover), and now have sweet sticky rice with coconut milk and mango. Awesome possums ♥ \o/ ♥

Boo for both Eldre'Thalas and Bronzebeard servers being down for Blizzard's special 24-hour long maintenance thing, though. So many things I could/should do with the time, but might end up sleeping--kind of drained from insomnia plus getting up at a 'normal' if not early time meaning just a few hours of sleep each night lately.

Afkjsdf, why are all the J2 photos floating around making me weepy. I don't get me.

Bebop-cat's been acting sick for days, going to take him into the vet tomorrow. Can't tell what's wrong with him at all, but all he's doing is sleeping and that's just not him. Isn't eating well either, and that's definitely off.

Got our 10man guild started. Still bitter that we can't use the name Fire Still Hot, would love to smack whomever's holding the name hostage (there's no guild with the name, but it's reserved, so someone started a charter and never finished it). Ended up with the name Woken Too Soon. Though something about it keeps feeling grammatically odd? Not sure what though. This far out of college though, I don't know proper grammar anymore--probably just one of those things like me trying to put commas all over where there shouldn't be any. Amazingly smooth 10man last night though, considering we picked up 4 pug players.

There's pms, and there's mood swinging low so hard that one is almost non-functional. I shouldn't have to drill sergeant-talk myself through basic life tasks. Ffffff. Not to mention there's spnland stuff I needneedneed to do for Saturday. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Taking Mom to my second cousin's wedding shortly, and Nebraska being what it is, they've changed their mind twice already today about whether it's being held outside or at where the reception will be. They've settled on outside, even though we're still predicted to have thunderstorms. \o/ Should be awesome. At least the aunt I ranted about recently won't be there after all--I guess only some of the family is invited (the term 'good parts of the family' may or may not have been used). Ah, family politics. Just the way my mother's side of the family is--there are just some with whom most people really, really, really, really would not want to associate.

The other day in WoW, I reported another player to the GMs for having the name "Nofatgirlsx". They dealt with the situation, and forced them to change their name. Which they changed to "Nofatgirlsxo". Have rereported them. Saw another name I wanted to report because it's gross and once again a crack on women, but didn't because I didn't want to be seen as causing trouble with too many reports at once. May do so in a couple days. Just a reminder of what the online environment can be like. I once saw a poll on NPComic about whether it was harder to be a male gamer or a female gamer, and it makes me want to rant at all those who voted that it's tougher to be a male gamer. Show me, SHOW ME where boys/men have to deal constantly with sexually derogatory or harassing names or guild names (how many versions of the guild [Come Honor Face] have there been now?), constant demeaning comments about their gender as a whole in the chat channels, even dismissive and near-discriminatory behaviors from their own guildmates? I sure don't remember in any of the guilds I was in having someone say that you had to watch male players because they caused more drama like some guy once tried to tell me was the case with female players.

Cranky, cranky, cranky. Awesomes.

Headache right upon waking up is always awesomefuntimes. I am grateful that Mom does coffee every morning. Perhaps I will be two cups of grateful.

In WoW news, decided I'm done with Dauntless and deguilded my toons/alts. Several of us that had come from Nightmare Walking/Hellscream are talking doing a 10man guild by the time Cataclysm starts (25s and 10s will share the same loot table and raid lockouts anyway, so.)

The first Thursday of show hiatus/hellatus makes me sad. Except now it'll be Fridays in a few months instead? Eh, I have no life so I guess I'm okay either way. I really am itching for s1 and s2 rewatching, so maybe I should finally make time for that. Also, majorly itching for some Sam-centric heavy on the comforty h/c type fic. Goal for today: find such.

So yesterday I discovered pies from this place were being sold at a local grocery store:
http://villagepiemaker.com/
The town where this place is located is population of about 500, in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. Made from scratch, sold frozen that you bake yourself, and damned awesome. We tried rhubarb, and I'm curious about gooseberry. But most of all, it made me think of Sam/Dean domestic fic I've read. I will never, ever, ever be tired of Sam/Dean domestic/curtain fic where Dean or both of them end up working for a bakery.

Also, saw a modelviewer pic of the female worgen to be put out in Cataclysm, and I am so underwhelmed it's not even funny. The design rather raises my hackles actually. The base worgen design is awesome, very much werewolf, of-wolf-and-man thing. The Cataclysm design for the male worgen hearkens to that, and looks awesome as hell. Looks right. The female design...looks cheesecakey. Like a wolf version of a catgirl, more like some sort of furry fanartist designed it. I don't know why, but it *bugs* me. I'll definitely only be playing male worgen. But more than that, I'm going to hate seeing the female worgen around. I know they're female, but FFS, they should still look like *worgen*. In other WoW news, the guild has been going through more issues.

I think I need to give in and buy a 12-pack of Mountain Dew Whiteout. Craving that like crazy.

Also, the people on my flist are awesome and brilliant, and I love how y'all think. ^_^ ♥

Green Day's Last of the American Girls reminds me why I enjoy their music so much, and why my LJ's been named from a phrase from their Basket Case for near nine years now. Dear Green Day--Don't ever quit making stuff that gets added to my 'personal anthem' list. Thanks, me.

Anj shared her Tarja Turunan CD (My Winter Storm) with me, and oh my. So very pretty. I love her voice. I loved her Nightwish-era music, and just never was as into that group after she left it. One track though, she does a cover of Alice Cooper's Poison, and it is so wrongly-beautifully-amusingly awesome that I love it to utter bits.

Finally read Sauntering Vaguely Downwards (http://community.livejournal.com/butterflywrites/11668.html, J2, NC-17, ~56k words), and it was as adorable as I thought it would be. I definitely agree with those who recced it. Cute and sweet, and makes me miss going to cons like freaking crazy.

Think I'm perhaps in a down mood swing in general. Feeling oddly stressed about the HVAC work being done tomorrow, sort of worrying about all the bits that could go wrong and being a bit restless to think about people in the house all day and all the hubbub that will go on.

Also sort of out of sorts because of comments in DotA guild chat that kind of hit that 'don't fit in anywhere' button. Couple of people making negative comments about those that like certain subject material, and finding them creepy. And it just makes me unhappy to see things like that, because yes, you may run into 'things that can't be unseen' that bother you in regards to yaoi/slash, but trust me, there's that sort of thing for yuri/femmeslash, and yes, certainly among het works, and even among non-pairing works. Generalizations are wrong, and just make those you've lumped in with 'that crowd' feel uncomfortable and like an outsider. Gotta love being labelled as stupid or creepy or wrong because of having an interest in something another person doesn't care for. I wish more people would respect others enough to not knock what they like or value, just because they don't care for it--especially when those others are extending them that sort of respect already.
