The yay is that we got heroic 10m Putricide in WoW last night. It really is a cool thing, and the result of a lot of work. Only two more achievements left for the 10man drakes (heroic Sindrigosa and the Waited A Long Time For This one).

Really, really down today. A moodswing from being up/manic/productive last week, I guess. And I'm worried about one of my cats--Missy (aka cat 3 of 4), the maine coon. What we thought was a mat of fur is an about third inch growth on her skin, and I'm going to have to get her to the vet. Don't know if it's something that's infected/inflamed, or if it's a tumor of some sort.

But also, fandom is just...making me sad right now. I thought it was bad enough to see/hear about such hate for my favorite character, but to know how people are being to each other now...it's just really disheartening. I do not understand the meanness, the hurtfulness, even the swearing at each other. I just don't comprehend it. Aren't we in this for a common love of this show and it's characters? Even if you don't like all of the characters or parts of the show, don't people know how to be respectful and considerate of others, to know that something you say horrible things about might be something that someone else likes or even loves?

I guess for me...well, I'll put it simply. I like Sam Winchester. I like Jared Padalecki. I like fanworks, whether they be gen or slash or even RPF/RPS. I like Supernatural--and I will, I am pretty damned sure, continue to like it. But most of all, most importantly, I like you. There's a reason I friended you all, and there's a reason I keep you as friends and hope you keep me as well. I greatly appreciate that I can share in your lives in these small ways, and share in this common love of the show Supernatural, its characters, and cast/crew.

Please, just be excellent to each other?

Anyway. Stuff I have to do first, but what I want to do is find feel-good, uplifting, hopeful fic and just hide and wallow. Though I also kind of want to see if I have a DVD of Bill & Ted, and watch it and try to get rid of this stupid urge to cry I've had since waking up. I'm too old to be like this--I'm 37 not 17.

I have luckily learned to stay away from certain places, but I can still sense vibe of all that wank going on. It is really just depressing. And especially when that Sam/Jared hate started already ages ago. I was juat all big question mark that time, because how can you consider yourself a fan of this show if you suddenly hate pretty much 50% of what makes it this show?! And just simply: how can you hate that silly, goofy giant with the cutest dimples and puppy dog eyes?!

It was also very depressing for me when I was watching the first episode because I kept thinking "oh the fandom is so not gonna like this" every now and then.. and then I asked myself what is wrong with me. I shouldn't think about that, I should just enjoy the show for myself because I certainly didn't turn all angsty about the stuff. Sure I was little confused about some stuff, like for example how cold Sam had suddenly come and how caring Dean suddenly was. But I just find these things interesting and actually necessary for the plot development. If there isn't any character development, how can there be any story development?

I actually came up with sort of a theory why the fandom sometimes reacts so strongly to some happenings in the show. I think we sometimes are just too deep into this whole fandom picture of the show, so certain that these fics we write (well not me personally but as I consider myself part of the fandom, even if not the hateful one, I still have to speak in this "we" sense) are the actual canon, we forget that we don't actually write the canon and we certainly can't decide what's going to happen. And then there's the whine that the writers should respect what we fans want but if they really did that to the degree people seem to want, I bet the wincest storyline would've happnened already seasons ago (well maybe not, but you get my point) :D

Oh well, I'm glad most of my flist is still on the positive attitude and even if there's something they don't like, no one goes attacking one another. But I get why you feel sad and I often feel so myself (hence my last short hiatus). But I guess we just need to learn to filter all the bad stuff away and concentrate on the good stuff.

Like that SUPERNATURAL IS BACK and all is good in the world again because we can enjoy the company of our favorite boys every week again :) <3

Oh my gosh, exactly! And especially after the events of 5.22, had people expected to be no changes, no effects?

because how can you consider yourself a fan of this show if you suddenly hate pretty much 50% of what makes it this show?!

\o/ Another exactly! It's something that's kind of made me boggle at times, with the attitudes people have had--not just a 'why are you still watching?', but a 'why were you even watching in the first place?' Because some of the things people hate, are like, as you said, 50% if not more of the show. Like how can they hate Sam, when the show, no matter if you ship or not, is SAM'N'DEAN, no ifs ands or buts. And those that act like Castiel is the only thing that exists on the show, I'm just don't get it--because um, gee, wasn't the show about Sam and Dean for YEARS beforehand? Like if they want a show just about him, they need to lobby for a spin-off, not try to act like a show that's always been Sam'n'Dean should drop focus from either of those two, or even both. I really appreciate those that if they are a fan of his character, understand that he's part of a cast and not the only character in it. I may have certain secondary characters that I like, but I'd never act they should be main characters, and especially would never act like they should replace the current main characters.

Your theory is a good one--that does make sense.
