Mom ended up with some sort of stomach flu :x Seems to be a 24hr sort, which is good, because man, she looked wishing-for-death awful. Crossing my fingers that none of the rest of us get that. ^^;
Hit a local TexMex place with Dad and my stepmother this evening, which wouldn't really be worth note, except for they offered this alleged "Cajun chicken tostada". And I guess in their view "Cajun" (which I associate with a certain type of seasoning and figured might mean the chicken would be blackened) meant buffalo wing sauce. Er.
Hoping
verbranden's feeling better. ♥ Don't force yourself back to work too soon, you. *hug*
At least the guild's gotten the officers to step back from the merger idea, at least for the moment. Had a moment of getting extremely irked at one new female player. Basically there was some sort of discussion of how female toons tend to get given things like gold, mainly because other players often visualize a female player behind that toon. (This raises my hackles for many reasons--not that people assume character gender = player gender, but the "give things to female players because they are magical special creatures who might tee hee love you long time for money and gifties" thing.) Long story short, I defended my many reasons for playing a male toon as including that I prefer *not* to get given stuff, as I want to do my own work--and side benefit, I don't get hit on when playing a male toon unlike the few times it happened on my female characters.
This gal then said something to the effect of how in her experience you didn't get hit on if you acted like you didn't want to get hit on. In other words--if you get hit on, it's because you were doing something to cause it, coming off as wanting it or welcoming it. SORRY *BUZZ* WRONG ANSWER. That's some sort of blame-the-victim, you were doing something to cause it/deserve it, "it's because you dressed like you wanted it" bullshit mentality that I do nooooooot care for at the fuck all. That is so not how it works. I bit my tongue last night because we were dealing with the drama about the suggested merger--but if she says something like that again, I will go the fuck off. In guild chat, in Vent, on the forums, whichever. Normally, aside from private ranting, I'm conflict avoidant--but I do not put up with that sort of attitude, from either gender.

Date: 2010-04-28 06:32 pm (UTC)On a non-porny but still creepy note, I remember once on my first toon (female nelf) grouping with someone and they kept asking my real name. Hellno. I pretended I was my brother. >_>;
