Sunny with a chance of hell (heh)
Jul. 14th, 2002 06:53 pmFinally, *finally* got to show Excel Saga to the folks here. Can we say *HOOKED* them, boys and girls? :D Katherine digs IlPalazzo just as much as I thought she would, Anj is now hooked muchly on Hyatt, and everyone thinks Nabeshin is groovy. But then again, he is. ^^ Oh, and yes, we can all howl along with Menchi on the ending credits. You knew we would (especially since everyone else seems to do this. ^^ )
Anj was so hooked on it, that she made me show it all again to Gina on Saturday night, since she hadn't been there Friday--Anj demanded we use the pop-up notes, which we'd gone without on Friday so everyone could just see it all without distraction. And since we're all hooked on the OP and ED credits music, I went out and found the full mp3s out on the web--I really, *really* love the verses of Menchi's song that you don't normally hear. XD Now I just need to find the mp3 for the reverse style of the end, not to mention Nabeshin's Afro song--we *NEED* the Afro song!! XD XD Oh, and finding Nabeshin's bkgd music would be good, too. I'll have to see what I can come up with.
Went out to see the movie Reign of Fire this afternoon with Kel, Katherine, Anj, James, and Lori. Expected it to suck rocks--like the DnD movie did--but despite a bit of cheese occasionally (won't spoil it, but their explanation for what happened to the dinosaurs is amusing ^^ ), it was actually rather cool! The dragons looked nifty, and it was surprisingly interesting. Liked the main character. He was kinda pretty. :)
Other than that...*scratches head*...spent most of yesterday doing bills, laundry, cleaning my desk, crap like that. Also stopped at Mars Music and picked up an introductory book on guitar chords, as well as sheet music for Guns N Roses' November Rain (for whenever I actually get competent, perhaps good *dream dream*), and "Metallica: Easy Guitar With Lessons Volume I". :D :D :D
Now, it's definitely above my skill level, as I'm still learning fingerings (and I haven't had much practice time this past week), but it's something good to get into soon. It's basic enough versions of the music to be good for those starting out, but still interesting and entertaining since it's stuff I like to listen to. I mean, my beginners's book is great for teaching those who know nothing, but well, the music is kiddy stuff like I played when learning flute and clarinet in gradeschool. And even if I can't play it all, I can always pick out bits and pieces to play with--I am so going to learn "Nothing Else Matters" as soon as I'm able. Too bad it doesn't have "Unforgiven" in this book. Maybe that's in volume II. :D
No word yet on the group lessons. I'm trying to be patient. I may call the woman in charge of putting them together and see if there's a time slot--other than the Tuesday night one that still needed a person after me--that requires just one more person to get started. I'll be flexible if I have to, schedule-wise. Eventually I do plan on going private with lessons, but I really do want to start out with the group ones, since they're half the cost of the private--and a full hour as opposed to a half hour.
Meh, enough babbling about the guitar. Enough babbling in general. I should do lj entries more often--they get too long when I skip days. *folds to the ground, Excel-style* Ooh, hunger's going to my legs. Guess I should get dinner or something. I should practice, too. ^^; Time time time, I need more time...! *flails*d
