house of the rising

Felt it was appropriate to listen to The Animals - House of the Rising Sun when I got into work today. Just had the feeling I should hear it on the radio, but must've been catching a bit of CCR that got me thinking that. Must admit, if I could assemble a list of my top5/top10 favorites, it'd be on there. I should find the Bunny comic that made reference to it last year after Katrina'd hit.
Also hit by a freakish emotional spell on the way in, perhaps due to where my thoughts were. Just near weepy out of freaking nowhere. Makes me wonder if in addition to PMS and my theorized during-MS and post-MS there's some sort of wth-inbetween-MS.
Also also. Two reasons I DETEST having to be out on public machines instead of back at my desk (see, both dept. chair and supervisor are around... >_> ):
1. Ever since the beginning of the semester, the connection speed has been slooooooooooooooooow. Seriously. This is serving students? Back in the staff area it's fine. But out here, web pages take for-fucking ever to show up, and half the time it comes up as not found and one has to reattempt anyway. Least one of the faculty finally noticed, maybe our IT people will get poked to do something.
2. Some of these people are mouth-breathing freaks. I don't mean the guy playing his headphones at what had to have been an eardrum-bleeding volume (and this coming from one who loves music loud), that's just an annoyance. No, I mean the sheer number of oddities, especially the odorous ones. There's one in particular who I'm certain is just some dude off the streets and not a student, he's here like all day in the same spot and he reeks (and is pretty unkempt to boot, though he doesn't look homeless). Also just...acts weird. Mouse-clicks like spastically, and like is weaving to the music in his own head as he's browsing. Just kinda sets a person on edge. If I could just do this all at my desk like most every other staff member (fuck my dept chair anyway and yeah I seem to be getting more disgusted with him over time), wouldn't have to deal with that stuff.
Other music notes (since I seem to be gd obsessed on such lately)--relistening to ES Posthumous, and I think that CD's on my all-time favorite list. Just gets me how very much I like it and how it's withstanding the test of time and my music-taste ADHD. Wish they'd do another album.
