Is everybody in...?

I've seen closings due to weather, due to power outages, and so on--but never have I been at a workplace that's been closed due to foreign dignitary visit. In short, due to the Afghanistanian president Hamid Karzai's visit to the UNO campus (which includes a tour through the Library, specifically our Arthur Paul Afghanistan collection and photo display), I get to leave after 12:30pm, and it's administrative leave. w00t, I say, w00t. The security precautions also include closing of a lot of parking lots, but the price of coming in early to find one of more limited spaces is nothing compared to paid time off. Again, w00t.
But yeah, it's definitely weird. Parking lots closed, draperies being set up to block line of sight from where he'll be, a protester that came into the building at the same time I did and sat over by the administrative office (Had some sort of sign about Iraq. Not that he'll be seen by anyone--we're being closed long before any of the officials actually get to the campus. And knowing the Secret Service, he'll be asked to leave anyway.), and so on.
But mmm, extra free time. Gotta pick up prescriptions and at some point in time get the usual allergy shots (hoping my dr. will let me come in early), but other than that... Might stop by Homers Music and get the Gorillaz CD, maybe the new System of a Down one. Yes, *real* CDs. I want the new Bright Eyes and Rob Thomas stuff, but that I might get by other means, or at least iTunes music store. ...though that all reminds me I still haven't ever gotten old Radiohead stuff, which I really want. Maybe I can find some used somewhere.
I now owe a music meme and a movie meme. Must do those, before I get tagged with others *heh*
Caught all of Feel Good, Inc. on the radio on the drive in. And it was good. <3 Somehow went well with dark-overcast-ness.
