It's looking more and more like the buyer for our house is gonna walk. She got this structural engineer to look at the foundation, and even tho it's only bowed the same 2 inches it's been bowed for the past 5-10 years (no movement, hello!), she's still saying to follow his recommendation of adding wall anchors (which cost anywhere from 1500 bucks to 3500 bucks!!) or she abandons the contract. Crap! And the structural engineer seems to be not returning my calls, which I've been making in the hopes he can explain to me why he recommended this repair when so many others are saying it's not needed. Gah!!
So I got a recommendation from my stepmother for a structural engineer for *me* to have look at the foundation, get a impartial second opinion, so to speak. He does that tomorrow, so we'll see what he says. If he says that we have to do it as well...damn. Don't even wanna consider that possibility, as that would hurt financially.
I am so pissed at the buyer--where in the hell does she get off being so freaking picky? I hate to tell her this, but houses in the 70K range are *not* all perfect and pretty. Hell, I've been looking in the 100+K range, and even those come with issues at times. She'd better quit being so anal about everything to do with our place, or I'll...crap, I can't do anything, truly. But I *know* what other 70K houses look like, and they are usually *BAD*...our house, for the issues it has with the yard being hellish to mow, is a solid, well-kept up, clean place. A person could move right in, and only face minor cosmetic things like painting, if they even wanted to bother with that. Technically a person could just move right in, no work at all if they didn't mind minor scuffs on the inside walls.
*sigh* Don't ever buy a house...it sucks. There's a reason so many people rent--yes, it's more expensive, but you don't have to worry about any of this!
