Give me my wings
May. 13th, 2007 12:37 amTool concert was so fucking win. ♥♥ V. loud, my ears are still ringing, but at least I'm starting to hear again. Opening act was lousy. Maynard is so skinny-gangly, and is currently sporting a mohawk, which amuses me for some reason.
Excellent, excellent stage show, or lights/effects whatnot. Even the lights themselves are part of the effects, done up with bits that also have psychadelic patterns and images projected on them, like the four screens behind the band and two to either side. Oh, and the high use of fire imagery and colors in the effects? Terribly win ♥
I bought a t-shirt :3
Not a lot of banter from these guys. They just get out and play 'til they're done (no encore games either). Think all that was said was "Holy fucking shit", "Happy Mother's Day", and "Thank you". Special meaning in him saying Happy Mother's Day--he said it in a rather appropriate segue between Wings for Marie Part I and 10,000 Days (Wings for Marie Part II), which were written about his mother's death after a long illness.
And speaking of Wings for Marie/10,000 Days. Reminded me that those are my all-time favorite songs from Tool. Incredible to see live. The bit in 10,000 Days where the music *really* crescendos and he's bellowing "It's time now, my time now, give me my, give me my *wings*"...god, full body tingle, from feet to scalp.
Man, I reek of cigarette (and other) smoke. And yay that people still use lighters at concerts, not like cel phones. It's gotta be lighters, imo.
