*snaps a salute*
Oct. 4th, 2005 08:32 amBrowser tabs... o___o I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT, HALLELUJAH! Seriously, those're sweet. Why've I never tried 'em before? As much as I bounce between the same five+ sites during the day, it makes things so freaking much simpler. I must see if Safari does those like Firefox here does. That'd so rock. I'll have a billion tabs, and I'll use them all every day~ >o<
Anyway, the Generalissimo is up and running, and running well. (Yeah, see, like I'd said before, the G4 tower was Roy Mustang, and this new G5 tower is Roy Mustang, the General, and for some reason I keep thinking of it as Generalissimo, which makes Roy sound like a Latin American dictator, but yanno, he might not mind that, and *anyway*.) My frames per second in-game didn't raise as much as I'd like, but that's because the Radeon 9800 Mac Edition (taken from my old computer as the factory default 9600 sucketh) is a good video card, but not a great video card--it's designed for the G4 generation, not the current generation. So once I save money again, I'll save up for a X800 or whatever it is that's current. Not the top of the line X850, that's too expensive for the little amount of quality difference between it and the X800.
But yes...dual 2.0gHz machine with 1gig bus, 2.5 gig RAM, CD and DVD read and burn, and what, was it a 120 or 160 gig hard drive, plus OS 10.4 (Tiger), man it's a freaking happy thing. And really, my fps isn't that bad--at good times it spikes up to about 40, but average it's still 15-20. *BUT* that's the freaking smoothest I've seen WoW run even with lower fps. I mean, I can turn and spin, and maneuver even when running or riding, and I'm not having horrid choppiness, skipping, or lag, and OMG IT'S SO NICE T_________________T It moves so very smooth, and that's even with me cranking the remaining video settings to max as well, *and* running my browser in the background again. OH HAPPY DAY, Roy-tower I LOVES J00 SO<3 (And you know that makes the tower preen as it sits there all smug and sexy looking--seriously, the G5s are sexy. Brushed silver-metal, massive huge tower, all techno-industrial-looking...I must do pics o__o )
Anyway. Not much else on my mind, really. We'll wait to make sure things are working for about a week, then reformat the G4 and Ebay that bugger (and the 9600 video card, and my old extra RAM). If I'm lucky, I'll get enough to pay off what I 'owe' us from the G5 purchase, and have a good chunk to put towards new video card saving.
Oh, and weather wacked-ness of the day--today 87, tonight 57, tomorrow 57, tomorrow night 32. Holy nuts. We don't ease into fall, no. It's either SUMMER or it's FALL, and there's no going gradually between the two. >_o
Ohyeah--saw your msg, Arty :) *hugssquooshes* Sorry I wasn't about to say hiya back.
(Erk, that's right...must call applicants to set up interviews. >_< Guess will try to get those done tomorrow and Thurs. Ugh-ness. Please please please make it so my supervisor has to do the training... )
