Fontenelle Forest was glorious. Glorious. Spectacular, awesome. Other than a handful of families and couples I ran into, it was so quiet--just sounds of the wind, birds, insects, water (when I was down near the Missouri River). It was the most amazing 'alone in nature as it was hundreds of years ago' feeling. And there you can see the very first hints of fall, with a light dusting of gold and brown leaves on the ground to crunch on. And at one point, I saw the damned coolest thing--five, *five* wild turkeys ran across the trail ahead of me. They disappeared off in one direction, and as I watched, they doubled back again some distance off. And I was the only one there to see it. : )
So, spent some hours there, then went to the Henry Doorly Zoo. The zoo was a wash. It was way, way too damned-fscking crowded. Total chaos. I went through the Desert Dome and Kingdoms of the Night nocturnal exhibits, then gave up. Man, people can be such blasted morons--doesn't it occur to someone that when you're in the *nocturnal* exhibit and it's so *DARK* you can't *see* that maybe taking tons of ultra-bright flash photographs is a *dumb* idea?? That maybe, just maybe this might bother the *nocturnal* animals? Jesus-christ-onna-pogo-stick. >_<
Did a monster grocery trip for a cookout we're gonna do Monday evening, before Kelly, Anj, and I do our Japanese studying. Gonna do polish sausages, bratwurst, this snazzy vegetable salad I'm concocting on my own, baked beans (ok, canned ^^; ), a deli-style (but homemade) pea salad, and my greatest experiment--I'm going to make a Sacher torte from scratch. *dramatic anime-style pose* Banzai! Ganbatte, me. *more posing, waves crash in the background* Even going to do real whipped cream with it--as in whipping it myself. ^.^ Heh, we'll see how that goes. I don't imagine I'll be around much the whole day Monday, except to check in once inna while. ^^; Mmm, am gonna splurge on some IBC root beer, too--that stuff's teh awesome. Found some caffeine-free/unsweetened raspberry herbal ice tea that I'm gonna brew up, too, just to try. Hmf...forgot lemons to have with that.
Anyhoo. Criminy, why do I always babble about the most mundane things? Yeesh. >_o;; But what a day--my left knee may be screaming, but I feel rather accomplished about it all. w00t, I say.
...I like my new icon too much. *coughs*
