Subsiding cel angst...

whitereflectionHad a bad-bad-bad episode of "Return of the Living Evil Dead Cel Angst: Part 37" earlier this evening. There was this Sakura cel on animechaos.com--a backgrounded Sakura with her friends at the ice rink. I first saw it Saturday afternoon, and needed just 20 more dollars to be able to afford it--and I *COULD* have just floated a loan to me from james' and my checking account. Lord knows I've done that before, for a lot more. But today, by the time I have that 20 extra bucks for real, the cel was already taken by some Other Rat Bastard (apologies if this ends up being someone I know).
I so should have listened to my gut instinct--the one that said, just order it, you've got three days to have the funds for sure, just order it as borrowing twenty from the checking acct is very much no big deal. But *nooo*, I never have learned to listen to my gut instinct. And so I spent many hours this evening calling myself moron, idiot, stupid, baka, etc. repeatedly in a very I-knew-it-I-told-you-so sort of way. But now, *shrugs*, am just dealing with it. It happens. I will keep an eye on the site for the 3-10 days to make sure that whomever bought it doesn't cancel (if they do, I'm on it like an otaku on a hentai anime tape).
And in the meantime, I've ordered another very, very nice cel, to spend the bit of Christmas money I've accumulated: a backgrounded Yukito cel also from animechaos (Kea, let me know if you were planning on getting this, and I will cancel to give you first dibs. It's ccs2391.) Thinking about it, I realized that it would really fit for me to have a backgrounded Yuki to kind of go with my backgrounded Touya cel--and as of yet, I have absolutely no Yukito cels. And it's really, really, really nice, so it seemed like a good thing to go for, with my first choice already taken. Also am grabbing a cheap cel&sketch of the Fly card, to add to my few Clow Card cels.
Kinda didn't expect to be spending on cels quite yet--but I did plan on eventually using Xmas gift-cash for that purpose, so I guess now works. And animegame (which had that backgrounded Yue cel I've been wanting for a while), seems to be shut down temporarily while the person is on vacation--so you can't even look at the cels, much less order, until end of January. Ergo, I figure I don't need to worry about that one until February earliest, when I've saved up a little fun money again.
...but gotta remind myself about the other things I need to be saving for, tho--potentially flying down to see Nix sometime, that tattoo of the kanji 'tsubasa' I've been wanting for about a year now, upcoming cons like Akon, maybe a PS2 (need FFX, Kingdom Hearts, and the new home DDR game, etc). Goddamn, I want too much. Guess I'd better just enjoy the cels I got for gifts, and these couple I'm ordering--looks like I won't be able to get many more until Akon.
In other news, did the bad movie night at Don's on Friday. He showed some black&white 50's 'UFO attacks Earth' flick, SW Ep. II (which I fell asleep during...I just don't like the new trilogy as much as I did the original. Eps 4-6 will always be just magic to me--whereas the new ones seem so flat, so little substance and emotional connection past the special effects *shrugs* I like Ewan MacGregor tho, and will always be a big fan of ObiWan and Qui Gon--yes, and in that way. ^^ And Yoda will forever kick ass, no matter what.), and some Jet Li/shao lin flick that was rather nifty. It all kept us out past 12:30 tho, which kinda sucks considering we had a 20-30 min. drive home. Eh.
Saturday was mostly an errand day, though we did hang out with Anj in the evening, and splurged on Sushi Ichiban Japanese food. Extremely nifty. Anj and I started on our project to compile episode synopses for Azumanga Daioh--and we took notes on 1-5 so far. Sunday ended up an errand day, too, as Leslie's DnD game was cancelled. But continuing with the Japanese food theme, I made okonomiyaki again (had Anj over for dinner), this time using a much simpler recipe from the bottle of okonomiyaki sauce. They turned out much better than my previous attempt--next time I'll use the recipe from Anj's Japanese cookbook, and see how we like that one.
Weird...doesn't feel like a Monday, for some reason. But anyway, one last babble about spending on crap, just because I'm a pathetic geek and I get thrills from this: animaxis.com is back up and running! And Anj is going to be making an order for us! I'm especially excited because they had Gouhou Drug 1 and Azumanga Daioh 1--which I'd been much needing--and all the Minekura a person could weep over: the new Wild Adapter I'd been waiting forever for (tankubon 2), the two volumes of Araiso Private High School Student Council Executive Committee manga I'd always wanted, Stigma, JUST!...gods, was there another one? I forget. Anyway, am gonna go orgasmic when that all comes in eventually--Minekura Kazuya is probably my favorite mangaka out there.
Christ, I need to shut the fsck up. Sad how excited and babbling I can get from spending money, and acquiring fangeek merchandise. Damn cels and manga--damn them all to hell! *flails*

Heh, and as I mentioned, I did watch the first ep. of FLCL. God, is that weird! And interesting! And I don't know what the heck is going on, but I love it! :D I'm really digging the characters extremely much already--and already have that end theme song stuck in my head. Heh, I need to tell Rei that I'm finally seeing it. Haruko's just as damned cool as he said she'd be. *grins*
But thank you muchly again. I'm very enthusiastic about it--and though I've been at my moody best lately, this is providing much genkiness for me today. I gotta show this to some other folks here. Heh. You rock very muchly. ^__^

Well, I'm glad you're liking it, and the cards! And I'm especially glad that it's helping to cheer you up some.
Feeling much better, so I think that my fever realized that if it didn't leave, it's have the wrath of at least two friends telling it to bugger off... =P
