Froggy!

And no, not Fuuma's frog, sadly. ^^ Got some incredible pea-soup fog going out there, for some reason. Visibility got a tiny bit better by the time I got to UNO, but out near home you couldn't even see half a block. Dunno what's causing it to be like this tho--there sure as hell isn't any humidity to speak of (except for said fog), if the static electricity my computer is generating says anything. Not to mention major dry skin stuff going on, ick. >p But the static, man--painful! ^^;; And it makes me curse my long hair, as there is a rather surprising lot of it trying to reach forward to be friends with my monitor. ^^;; *brushes it out of the way _again_* Gah, can't see! *flails*

Anyway, attempted the okonomiyaki last night, and wasn't *that* an adventure. ^^;; Actually they turned out ok, for the most part--especially the second and third of the four I made. But the recipe was *too* huge, way bigger than a traditional Japanese recipe (got it from the Anime Iowa cookbooklet they sold this past summer). I mean, it made four cakes 8 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. Yikes! If you don't know how big that is, it's *Humongous*! I noticed a recipe on my bottle of okonomiyaki sauce, and it makes four cakes 6 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. That sounds more right. ^^ But I think the recipe I used just called for too much cabbage (didn't use *nearly* all of what it had me cut up), and way too much meat (10 oz. pork, 8 oz. squid and 8 decent sized shrimp).

Anyway, so it was actually really good, so I think the recipe just needs tweaking to use less meat--and to cut it up smaller. They said 'thin sliced' on the pork, but really it should just be chopped--or be paper thin, small slices. Otherwise it doesn't stick to the cake. And making them smaller and thinner would make 'em a hell of a lot easier to flip. ^^;; That was a bit of an issue last night. Especially for the last one I did (mine, naturally--gave the two good ones to Anj and James), which fell apart extremely badly, causing me to swear much. ^^;; But they're definitely tasty, so worth repeating to practice. If I get the hang of it, I should do it for folks if I can ever get out to visit, or have people to visit here. But e-freaking-gads, was it a mess. ^^;; And it was definitely more complex of a dish than I'm used to cooking--more exotic ingredients, more effort, more prep time. I can guarantee, tho, that the rest of the week will be lazy cooking. >D

Anj finished sketching and inking a fanart for the Azumanga Daioh fic she's writing. I can't wait until she's ready to post the story and picture to the azumangafanfiction group. I think she'll be our first posting member. ^^

*ponders* I am reminded tho, after getting to talk to Kea and Sue for just a little bit last night, that I really stink as a conversationalist at times. It's like I really rely on others for energy and motivation in keeping conversation going--and if left to my own devices, I'll just babble about the *stupidest* things. I don't know why the hell I say some of the things I do sometimes. Or why I keep repeating the same points over and over. Rrrrgh. ><;; *flails* If I wouldn't have been so missing people contact, I probably should have just gone to bed. And I didn't even run into Nix. *siiiiiighs* T_T

Must do much present wrapping tonight! Much! Banzai!! So I can be done and ready to work on boxing things up for mailing tomorrow night. *nods* Must show my |33t \/\/r4pp1|\|g s|<1||z!
