It's a Gundam...a really old one! Waugh!

whitereflectionHeh. ^^ Don showed us the first Mobile Suit Gundam movie last night--and it's strangely entertaining. The 70s anime style and jerky animation aside, it was really fun and scary addictive. Couldn't even let myself get up to refill my drink until it was done. *grins* And yes, I did play the "What Did Gundam Wing Rip Off From This?" game.
Obviously there was the Char/Zechs resemblance, the similar military uniforms, the similarities in spaceship/colony/mobile suit/gundam design, even amusing similarities in backgrounds and 'sets' for the animation--and then there was the character of Matilda. Is she Mariemaia's great-great grandmother or what? >D If she woulda just had the funky eyebrows like Treize...heh. Lessee, some similar character emotion elements, bit o' similar plot... ^___^ Really liked the character and design of Sayla (let me guess, she's gonna be related to Char, right? A long-lost sister, right? *coughZechsandRelenacough* ^^)--she did kind of remind me of what I liked best about characters like Dorothy, Une, Sally, etc. from GW. I hope she shows up more in the later two movies, but from the liner notes seems that she does--gets her own suit or gundam, I think, doesn't she?
Damn, now I'm gonna have to watch the other two original MSGundam movies. I'm just too hooked by it. And who would have figured? It's so old and goofy-looking and bad, but it's so fun! >D I guess the fact that I detested War In the Pocket and Stardust Memories (is that 083 or 0083?) doesn't mean I hate *all* old/original Gundam stuff. ^^ ...hm. Maybe I should make more of an effort to check out TurnA Gundam and Gundam X--and definitely gotta see what this Gundam Seed is like.
...and I am *so* a freak--even watching this horrible old Gundam movie, I'm still having to hold in major laughter/fangirlishness at the yaoi implications that I so swear are there. *snerk* I mean Char and...Garma, was it? (The lavender-haired guy with the sister complex ^^ ). I just know there was a fic author back in the early 80s that had Garma walk in while Char was showering, and not just stay out in the room while they talked. XD Man, was there some *undertones* in the dialog between those two. *hee*

Okay, that's it; against my better judgement the yaoi-themed vids (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/home/home.php) are going up in the next 'AMV picks' article (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=macaque&itemid=13916). You people need your fix before you start seeing the stuff everywhere... XP
