Why I love my mother...

Once upon a time, I (being evil) said, "Hey Ma, there's this author I think you'll like. Let me send you what Terry Pratchett I have, and you can read 'em and see what you think."
She was almost instantly hooked. XD And not only did she buy the books I was missing (including the ones at the time only available in the UK), she sent them to *me* afterwards since she has no extra space in her apt. in Seattle. And then she started buying the new books of his when they came out (and sending them to me)--and got impatient enough to get the hardbacks, even tho they're more expensive.
And *then* she got so impatient that she started ordering the hardbacks from *Britain*, since they obviously come out a lot sooner there than the US editions.
Night Watch ships to her in a few days. Then once she reads it, *I* get it. XD *dances*
*heehee* And she's my source of Dave Barry books, of Scott Adams books (the real 'business' ones), of Sue Grafton, Lillian Jackson Braun, Rita Mae Brown, Janet Evanovich, and a scad of other mystery authors--and do you know how very many authors go through Seattle on book tours, enabling her to get signed copies? ^____^
Definitely one reason I love my Mom. :D Helps she's also a ex-and-still-very-liberal-and-socially-conscious-hippy, mellow-easygoing&fun type who's in her second-or-is-it-third childhood, the type to be devoted to a sports team (like the Mariners or the Huskers) even though they suck, or perhaps *because* they suck. The type who's sense of humor is sicker and more twisted than *mine* (let's just say I wasn't the first one to start watching South Park way back when). XD I gotta admit, I'm getting rather psyched for the fact that we're going out to visit over work's winter break. :D
*sudden tangent* Oooh, that means I get to hit all my favorite Seattle spots...the waterfront (Seafood! Ivars! Anthony's Pier 66!), the International District (there's a place that does kickass Chinese dim sum there, and this awesome Japanese grocery/dept. store, which I haven't been to since it expanded), Pioneer Square, the Pike Place Market. Ooooh, then there's the zoo, the Space Needle, FAO Schwarz, that weird music place in the guitar-shaped building I haven't gotten to go to yet... Ohyeah, and Dave's living with her, so I'll get to see my brother again, too. ^^ Yeah, I'm kinda getting eager for the end of December (finally).
(Ed: Just found out from Ma that they actually released the UK and US editions of Night Watch at the same time, so she was able to just get it from US Amazon. Nifty. ^^ Nix! You must acquire it, too! :D )
