Week-at-a-glance, AKA Strangely quiet
Sep. 28th, 2002 03:48 pmMonday: *It* finally arrived. The thing I have been waiting so very long for--that Yue and Touya cel I bought. XD Yes, it is *that* damned cool, and really gorgeous looking. I have to scan it in sometime. :) It was *so* worth the cost, even if I don't have any personal fun money left until end of November at the soonest (maybe longer than that, as things are feeling kinda tightish--maybe I should stop that sorta thing until after the holidays...). But it is very special, and is the pride of my cel collection for now (and for some time, I imagine). *beams*
Tuesday: Proved my odd tastes by having Di-Style-Chili (yes, I made more--I seem to have this odd habit of making the stuff about bi-weekly through fall and winter) with edamame as a side dish. What can I say? I thought t'was good stuff. Watched more of that cartoon, Undergrads, until I fell asleep--would have just crashed then, except I saw that Kea actually had online access and was feeling alone-like. ^^ So had to say hi to her--and Nix too, naturally. And Brandon! Got to say hi to Brandon for once! :D Unfortunately I didn't have two brain cells to rub together--this is why I usually don't like to AIM after I've been sleeping. ^^;
Wednesday: Not worth writing about. Nothing bad happened, I just made the mistake of thinking. And as Nix and I have come to the conclusion previously, it's just not worth the heckofa lot of trouble thinking gets you into. If it weren't for venting at my session with Michael, I might have made Drastic Changes to my life. Not that Drastic Changes aren't needed, just not right now, I think. Right now is more the time for hiding in the status quo. Or something. (And no, it's nothing new--just the same old issues I've been trying to juggle for the past year, year and a half, two years. ^^; You know how it goes.)
Thursday: Was a bit better, mentally--everything was very normal and usual, down to our typical dinner out with Dad. I've been in this oddly non-talkative, quiet mood all week (as evidenced by lack of presence here on LJ and on AIM), and was just going to read in the evening, but I got a call from Kea. And that was a hell of a lot of fun. :D It was a blast, and she was just in an adorable mood. Unfortunately I wasn't as chattery as I am at times, so I fell silent a lot, but her cheer kept me from going totally quiet. :) Just wish I would quit tiring out so early, or I woulda talked with her longer.
Friday: Usual during the day, but one extremely spiffy thing in the evening--went to a book signing by none other than Bruce Campbell at the Barnes and Noble by our house. >D Groovy. XD He's my hero. There was an incredible crowd there--they were giving away tickets for the autographing, and getting there at six, an hour early, we got ticket 403 (they started with 350). By the time a coworker of James' got there at 7, they were up to tickets in the 600s. So you're looking at about 250-300 people in an already cramped and not-huge B&N. Yeah, it got a bit warm. ^^; But it was most cool--unlike other actors/actresses who only look good thanks to cameras and makeup, Bruce Campbell is really good looking in RL. He dresses pretty classy, too, which kind of surprised us. Anyway, he talked some, read from his book, did a Q/A session (at which point many geeks in the crowd proved what dorks we in Omaha are >_<;), and signed the books (called "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor"). James' coworker got a picture of me with him, so I'll have to try to scan that in and post it somewhere when she gets it developed.
Unfortunately, to get there quick after work, we'd skipped eating, so I was in the midst of a blood sugar crash (as it was 8:30 by the time I got my number called to have my book signed). I don't think I said much to him other than "Guhbibble." Or maybe it wasn't even that many syllables. >_< Oh well. He was good natured about all us fangeeks. Afterwards, finally eating did its usual thing--put me to sleep the minute we got home. Even after sleeping late this morning (yes, 9am is late for me), I'm still beat.
Today: Not motivated, so I'm not really doing much. Did bills and and checkbook balancing stuff, which was needed as our checking account took a figurative shot to the groin with paying sales tax on the car and getting it titled/registered/plated this week. And with some of the other and usual bills we're getting hit with, it's a bit ouch at the moment. >_o It *looks* good because it's full of James' saved up money for his computer--but when the credit card bill comes, and that money gets used to pay it. *wince* Eh. So naturally I'm already fretting about Christmas. ^^;; *flails*
Anyway, there ya go. I don't know why I've been so quiet--I'm not feeling antisocial, just at times low-energy and unable to initiate and sustain a conversation. I should remember to seek out quizzes or post song lyrics to keep *something* going in my lj. *flails*
Oh, and one more thing--applying for a vanity plate in NE here is *extremely* cheap. So hopefully in 30-90 days we'll switch out our regular plate for something amusing. ^^ I'll have to report which of our choices we get (though I have a feeling we'll get our first choice, heh.).
Note to self--Doing a lj entry days apart means a person tends to gloss over a lot of things, rather than going into depth on a few things. >_<; Meh, I remember when I used to actually *discuss* not just report. :p
Hm. Wonder if Anj and Gina will be wanting to do anything tonight...?ˇ
