So I sort of want to make a cracky but absolutely smarmy and unrepentantly chickflicky Sam'n'Dean post-5x22 fanmix, but the only song I can think of so far is Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On. :| I guess at the least pondering it has been good for making me snicker to myself. :p (Okay, temptation would also be there to include Kelly Clarkson's Because of You and Richard Marx's Right Here Waiting.) It is oddly difficult to come up with many massively schmoopy and cheesy chickflick songs when one pretty much avoids top 40 pop. ^^;

I may be your girl for this :D I have a huge collection of songs and a good portion of it is pop music (even the super cheesy stuff).

\:D/ Neaaat! Folks are suggesting things that are freaking awesome and *perfect*, and it's reminded me of some things I used to just swoon for back in high school.

But I'm also wondering about stuff that's more current, within the last couple-several years. What might be good options for super-chickflicky, sappy stuff more recently? Should I be poking at Youtube maybe for stuff by some of the previous American Idols? I think if I could come up with another 2-3, I might be good to go to try this mix. 8D

Okay, so a couple are from the late 90s/early 2000s and a couple aren't really pop, per se, but have been popular the last couple years. *hand wave* Whatever, haha, this is what I came up with from my collection:

"When You're Gone" Avril Lavigne
"Don't Leave Home" Dido
"Oh Boy" Duffy
"So Are You To Me" eastmountainsouth
"I Will Love You" Fisher
"Falls On Me" Fuel
"Alone" from Glee (my friend [livejournal.com profile] sulwen made a Sam/Dean vid to the original last year, but this one's more pop sounding :D)
"I'll Stand By You" from Glee
"Right Kind of Wrong" LeAnn Rimes (those lyrics just SCREAM Sam/Dean)
"Samson" Regina Spektor
"Day Too Soon" Sia

Probably not what you're looking for at all, but this one cracks me up all the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJQVlVHsFF8
(and I can't unsee his jensen-ish face).

Other than that... no idea. The only thing that comes to my mind is 'You're Beautiful' by James Blunt.

THAT IS SO PERFECT. X3 Why am I so amused at David Hasselhoff, I don't know. And *craaaaaap* that's got the song stuck in my head again.

Thanks, excellent suggestions. 8D

OMFG YES. I kept thinking Whitney Houston would be *perfect* for this sort of mix, but all I could remember was Greatest Love of All. I Will Always Love You is *exactly* the sort of thing that would fit this. XD

Also XD Time of My Life, dang, what fic was I reading recently that had Sam singing bits of it at Dean to annoy him? Too bad I suck at remembering things, because now it's going to drive me nuts until I find again--and I swear, I just read it not that long ago.

Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart" and definitely Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now." Waxing poetic about dead lovers - yeah, Dean's there. ;) Great idea!

Ooh, nice suggestions, but especially YES to that other Celine Dion one. A mix like that would definitely need more than one of her songs--and yeeeeeah, how that one does fit, heh. Awesome, thanks 8D

Michael Bolton is definitely getting multiple suggestions. XD And ohman, I remember swooning so freaking much over Glory of Love when I was 14. \o/ (I swooned over *everything* that was Karate Kid 2 ^^;; )

Yes, definitely!

Also "Long Way to Happy" by Pink and "With Or Without You" by U2. And "My Lover's Gone" by Dido if you're making it Wincesty...

Oh, nice suggestions! Definitely good ideas, I'll definitely check those out. Man, that makes me so nostalgic for Joshua Tree-era U2. I used to absolutely adore that CD so much, and With Or Without You was definitely my favorite off it. ♥

I LOVE HOW YOU THINK! \o/ Seriously, I'd just remembered about that Bryan Adams song yesterday afternoon--we're definitely on the same wavelength. 8D And ohman, Michael Bolton, excellent. You're awesome for reminding me about him. He's a *must for this sort of mix, just as much as Celine Dion is.

♥! \o/

YAY! Definitely on the same wavelength. I'm a sap and love those kind of songs, so I usually always have the Michael Bolton, Richard Marx, and Bryan Adams playing at some point..lol! Can't wait for the mix! If I can think of anymore I'll let you know!

:D Glad I could help! ♥
