Yesterday got to 65F, so naturally today it's at freezing with sleet and snow starting. :B Nebraska, you are full of suck. At least since the ground was warm, it shouldn't accumulate on the pavement and should melt tomorrow if it does. At the least we're not getting something really yuck like the 11 inches predicted for Denver--not that my brother is home there to experience that, after all his smugness of their good weather this season. No, he and his gf are touring various spots in France and Spain for the next week and a half (I am full of envies >_< So so so many envies.)

For some reason while grocery shopping, I was pondering abbreviations and words I hate. Like when people say chappie for chapter, compy for computer, ficcie for fic, etc. But the one I detest most lately...tummy. I know, it's not an abbreviation, and is a normal word. I wouldn't freak if it were said to a child or by a child. What I can't stand...is how it shows up in fic. Like from Sam or Dean's POV. I'm sorry, but a 20s or 30s something male would *not* refer to or think of that area of their body as tummy. D< Stomach, belly, gut, abdomen, maybe. Tummy, NOES. Ugh. I dunno if any male that's over schoolage would use that term--even my flamingly gay friend in college (who wanted to grow up to be Madonna) didn't refer to it like that. I think the only time I've heard a guy say tummy is the singer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the beginning of the song Love Rollercoaster. I know it's something I run into at the ff.net pit, but still. Rarghate. (And it's not even a 'obv the writer is female thing' because I don't say tummy, my friends don't--it's like these authors can't be bothered to mask that they're teens or mothers with infants/toddlers.)

My brother just called Mom to say they've landed in Cannes. ENVIES. *flails* I could never get the husband to travel there, even if we weren't doing the one income thing at the moment. I'm lucky to get him to travel as it is--but he absolutely hates France (not because he's one of those neocons that said things like 'freedom fries'; his younger sister who I don't even like now was just a prissy bitch to the extreme when they were kids, and he spent his high school and college years hearing how France and anything French was superior to anything and everything from her, so it's backlash from that).

Found scanlations of Fairy Tail online, yaaaaaaay ♥ Already to chapter 103. >_>; Yes, the art is goofy and exaggerated and cheesecake. But the end of one of the story arcs made me very nearly cry (twice) and like many shounen stories there's so much emphasis on friendship no matter what and on forgiveness. ♥ And big fights and big powers and eeee ♥ And Erza Scarlet the Titania is so fucking awesome. ♥♥♥

Yes. :| Definitely. (I try to tell people "At least say 'teh sex' a la The Monarch, air quotes included if at all possible," but they never listen, you know?)

Those get on my nerves too. Though tummy isn't too bad, but it comes off as very childish. Like, if I see that in a fic I do a bit of a head tilt.

No offense to your husband, but that's a totally stupid reason to hate a country and a people. Find out for yourself. Yeah, you can be annoyed by your sister running her mouth because that is annoying and the French aren't any better than anyone else, but c'mon.

No worries on offense in regards to him :p It's one of those things that drives me nuts, too. He's extremely judgmental and in weird ways--people who think strongly about something affect his opinion more than the thing itself, which is the most bass-ackwards way of forming your opinions ever. Second only to having it spoon-fed to you by talk show hosts, imo. And it irritates me doubly that when he does come down on something, he can't just dislike it--but all but decides those that feel differently are stupid, not just people who happen to feel differently than him. It's definitely caused bickering between us at times, and over the *stupidest* of things (like TV shows and such). It's funny, I swear he wasn't like this when I knew him in college, and is one of the things that makes me go arrrgh nearly 15 years after. : /

I'm sorry the weather is teasing you. We had 3 straight days of 60+ degree weather, but it's not supposed to last too much longer. :( But it was definitely nice while it lasted.

I have a friend that lives in Omaha, she's always griping about the weather and mentioned the very same thing to me yesterday. I personally love the snow, however, it's currently 60 or so here as well and if it's not going to give me a foot or two? Being cold without it is just plain cruel when I had 60+ temperatures the day before. They're saying we get your snow tomorrow. WTF?

At least ours is melting fast and will be gone by today/tomorrow latest. Heck, I'm hearing talk of 60 on Monday. :D :D But weird--a friend of mine I was talking with last night was boggling because she was getting that snow. And it was sticking not just to ground, but to pavement. She lives in *Arkansas*. WTF.

I'm so looking forward to this week \o/ That one day of 60, upper 50s, rain next Saturday and not snow, woooooo!

YES! It always throws me when a grown up character uses that word tummy in a fic. It sounds so childish :(

And awww, your husband's missing out then. France is absolutely beautiful.

Ohhh, I bet it is ♥ I want to go! To see the countryside, to see the cities ♥ There's such wonderful architecture and history--and the food! Hence why I'm so envious of my brother and his girlfriend. ^^; I even would want to go to Disneyland Paris, because I'm weird that way.

Hehe, I don't know why it drives me so nuts, but oh it does. And I swear I'm going to start leaving reviews for people who use the term in fic for adult character POVs to complain. ^^; I don't want to be that person, but argh! XD;
