Anyway, since I've got just a bit of time, here's AI and Wichita in ReallyQuickSoICanGetCaughtUp Format (tm). :D
AI:
*It is possible to paint on a project in a hotel room, and not make a mess. :D Who woulda thunk it? Especially since we're still finding bits of blue paint at home here. ^^;
*Jamison (a friend of Katherine, Kelly, and Anj) is a really, really cool guy. I liked him a lot, and he really fit in well with (most) of our group--better even than one person whom we've known for five years now (*coughKatherinecough*)
*Don't ever go to a con where one of your roommates plans on getting involved in a romantic entanglement--especially if the other person isn't fully aware of said romantic entanglement ><
*The dealers room at even a small con can suck almost all of your money in just an hour. No, really. Damned cels, pins, djs, Pocky, etc. >_<;;
*Long-time buddy Brian is a god at cel painting--this year he did poster-sized ones, and I was in pain at not being able to get any, much less the several I really wanted (*still drooling at the Kenshin and Faye ones*)
*If you see the AMV of various anime to the Invader Zim "Doom Song", dl it! XD The AMV actually's not good, but it's just kickass funny anyway.
*The winners of the AMV contest really kicked ass--look for a Slayers AMV set to Jimmy Buffett's Bandit's Lament (great, *great* lip synching) from Paper Tiger Studios and a mixed anime video titled "Jam for the Ladies" from Purple Chakram Studios.
*God, I love a good dance. I really, really love a good dance. :D :D Hours of anime themes, DDR and other dance game music, some 80s and 70s stuff, a bit of current music (it's more fun to flail about and sing extremely loudly/badly/melodramatically to System of a Down's Chop Suey than you would think ^^ ). And there's nothing like seeing multiple Nabeshins and Vashes tearing up the dance floor.
*AI=fscking awesome costumes. And tons of them! There was a lot of duplication, but that didn't mean the costumes weren't all awesome. In some ways, I think the costuming quality at AI may actually exceed the average quality at Akon. Hard to say. I need to find the links to pictures, as the official con photographs are finally up, I believe. Oh, and I only got recognized as Watari once on Friday, but Saturday as the Great Will of the Macrocosm (from Excel Saga) was one giant photo op. >D That costume went over *GREAT*. *dances* And I was unique, too!
*Unfortunately, the Cosplay blew. The judges seemed to only recognize large groups with mostly average costumes who did stupid skits--those who had incredibly detailed, skilled costumes which took months to do for the most part were ignored (including a woman in the most amazing Usagi Yojimbo outfit). Though first place did go to an amazing pair as Zagato and Emeraude from Rayearth--so there was some intelligence to the judging (but only a little bit :p )
*Got to see Hawke and Lemming, which was freaking awesome! *dances* I've missed them a lot. Trouble is, I only got to see them a bit on Thursday night, and for breakfast Saturday, and here and there at the rest of the con. Not nearly enough--gomen nasai, both of you. *genuflects* I'll have to work scheduling better at future cons. And thank you again, Hawke, for all the stuff you gave me, and for working at transferring Saiyuki Requiem to VHS for me. And I'm just remembering I still haven't sent you funds to cover return postage--mental note to do that tonight. *nodsnods* Oh, and I got to meet nieces 01 and 02 and their clones--that was most cool. :D *hugs* to you all!
*Another thought on costume prep: Staying up from 1-2:30an dotting on stars individually by hand after a dance on the first night of a con can make one loopy as a loon. Trust me on this one.
*Did I mention I love cels? :D *still dancing at the cels gotten at the dealers room* And the words "Bargain Box/Bin" bring me far more joy than they rightly should. ^^;
*Met a woman named Nessie (Vanessa) at the dance who looked eeriely (? *pokes the word and tries to make it spell itself correctly*) like Nixy aged 5 or so years. Trippy. ^^ But she was an absolute blast. I wanted to go to her room party Saturday night, but in typical fashion I crashed and fell asleep. ><;;;;
*The drive both to and from Cedar Rapids was ok, though I nearly got sideswiped by an SUV trying to merge into my lane *both* times. Gah! *flails* And we had a monster rainstorm to deal with on the way back, but James drove for that. ^^;
*I know I've said it before, but I'm saying it again: I'm never going to a con with Katherine again. I know, it's over a week later, but I'm still very not happy with her. I think she could drop out of my life and I'd be happy. Anj, James, Kelly, Jamison, I'd go with all them again--maybe we can work that next year. Then maybe we can have fun socializing with Jamison without someone having hissy fits about how he's not paying attention to her and how we're monopolizing him. :p Enough said on that subject.
Okay, enough on AI! Far more than I wanted to say, anyway. So, onto Wichita. :D
*Damn, but that was fun! Waiiiiiii! *dances about, glomps Kea and Jenn* I had such a blast. :D
*The drive there and back went super smoothly. I've never driven that long alone before (I've done a 6-8 hr trip, but with James in the car)--but I got this super euphoric feeling when I realized I was actually accomplishing it. :D I can't help it--Dad's love of roadtrips is in my blood. *grins* Oh, and I *LOVE* the Kansas Turnpike. The Kansas Autobahn, anyone? ^^ I swear, speed of traffic is 15 over the limit! Heh.
*The motel was a decent place--and the rooms actually rather large. :) Though if we end up there again, I will make sure Kea and Jenn get the time to use the pool and hot tub. *nodsnods*
*Three words: Card Captor Sakura. *swoooooooooooooons* We watched all of first season, most of second, and a small bit of third (a very, very important couple of plot points *dances*) And I am so damned in love with that show. I mean, I am addicted *bad*. Which is another reason why I'm back looking at the cel sites again. ^^;; (where was it that had that Touya and Yue cel? If it was anime gambit, it's gone... *flails* )
*I got to eat at Bennigan's again finally! >D Many thanks *glompshugs Kea and Jenn again* for feeding my craving. Mmmm, Monte Cristo sandwiches and Death by Chocolate ice cream pie...mmmmmmm... >D
*Also watched the CGT (aka Clamp Campus Detectives) omake--must see that again!! As well as an episode of Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and a bit of Reideen. Want more Reideen! XD And not *just* because of the transformation sequences--but yes, that does influence it quite a bit. :D Naked bishounen!! *dances* I must help Jenn get more LDs... >_> *grins*

*Ah, the only down side--now I miss Kea and Jenn very, very much. You both have such a wonderful ability to make someone feel so loved and cared for. *extrahugs* I love you both, bunches and bunches, and wish I could be around you more often.

Well, much longer than I was intending, but there ya go. And maybe this'll get me back into lj stuffs again. *nods* Oh, and updates on car stuff--the 99 dark green Saturn SW2 wagon is ours for sure. It checked out good with the diagnostic center, and has been running really well--it should be a good replacement for the Ex-Saturn. I've got my last followup dr appointment this morning, and we've already gotten the money for the totalling of said Ex-Saturn--so almost everything is wrapped up as far as the the whole mess goes. Just a few loose ends to be tied up, and that's it. I'm rather glad it's all settling down. :)
*grins at Kea and Jenn* And no, I haven't said "I was offended" or "I am going to have issues with..." to anyone here yet. Yet. ^^ It's only a matter of time, I'm sure. Heh.
