End (to Resume)
It's just a date,
another step
along the endless forever road
between history past
and history future
It's just a date,
and the sorrow and rage
slipped my grasp
(when I wasn't looking)
to tumble away
on the wind gusts
of time
It's just a date
like any other
when some first taste breath
some live
some cry
some flourish
and some die
It's just a date
that once I grieved,
but I can no longer pick raw that wound
--because it's healing
and
--because the journey calls,
the time comes
to move on
and take another step along that road
and
--because there is a difference
between surrendering,
between drowning,
between forgiving and forgetting,
and between remembering
but finally letting go
and living again
and
--because, in the end,
It's just another date.
