Or something like that.

Anyway, looks like my friends' page displays absolutely fine here at work, and it still wasn't when I checked from home before leaving, so it appears to be a Netscape 4.73 problem. Yeah, I know, I'm still using that crap--I've just been too fscking lazy and paying attention to other stuff to download a newer version like I've got here. So I guess I'm going to either dl Netscape 6.2 when I get home, or just go and grab Opera, since Jenn and Kea were kind enough to give me a link to that. It even has a OSX version, so I could use that after we upgrade, rather than be forced into IE like we thought we would be. At least it's not an lj problem, so I can deal with it myself rather than waiting on them to correct it.

Other than that--had some cool thunderstorms last night. We're desperate for the rain, so that's a bonus. Though the streets were extra slick, even compared to when normally rain-damp. Maybe the lack of precipitation has left the pavement extra funky with oils and dust or something. Though the storms kept waking me up, so though I tried to get an average amount of sleep, it wasn't the most effective. >_< My night this evening may involve dinner, practicing on Unmei a bit, then bed fscking early. I dunno. I'd hate to waste an evening like that (nothing depresses me more than work-bed-work), but I don't want to be dragging around during the lesson tomorrow.

Oh, my annoyance for today: I've heard something about some ad campaign Dr.Pepper is doing, involving the Pledge of Allegiance, except for they're leaving off the words "under God". Well, I'm seeing now where some people are having a royal shit fit about this, calling for boycotts and whatnot. Um, excuse me, but Dr. Pepper sells to an audience of more than Christians. If they want to do this in order to show a touch of respect for those that do not follow "God"--gee, think of all the Buddhists, Muslims (doesn't say 'under Allah' now does it?), Wiccans, Agnostics, Atheists, etc etc--they should be free to do so. Not to mention, the Pledge was *originally* written without the phrase "under God". I mean, that was added this century--I forget if it was the 30s or the 50s, something like that. If these people are going to freak, they should freak at the original authors of the Pledge, and all those who dared recite it before those words were added.

I was raised Missouri Synod Lutheran, and even now I still believe in some sort of higher spiritual power. But I hate this sort of mentality that basically says "This is the only way, our way must always be recognized and followed, we don't care if you believe differently because you're wrong anyway, nothing exists but our viewpoint, and love and tolerance means being able to shove our beliefs down your throat." I'm glad there are people in this world like Michael, and my friends and family who truly live as they believe--otherwise I'd be fully convinced that belief systems like Christianity were nothing but hypocrisy made pretty and warmfuzzy.

nodnod.. the thing that ticks me off most about how some people interpret organized religon is that "it's my way or the highway.. ,TO HELL</>"

glad you got some rain.. we've just started getting the weather you were complaining of.. supposed to be near 100 :p ... can we chant the worship to AC?

Do your guitar lessons start this week, or next?

Lessons start tomorrow night, so not long now. ^^;; They're going to be cool, but ya know how it is--new thing, new people, chance to fail spectacularly, yadda yadda. ^^;;;; Heh, I imagine I'll be much better about it once I've gotten a lesson or two under my belt, and know more what to expect.

*extrahugs back* Definitely keep cool. :)

You. You're learning something new. Go to those lessons and laugh with deep delight at the failures. Mistakes lead to learning. ^__^

And always remember, no matter how rough you may play, it can't sound even close to as pathetic as my Japanese does. An automaton I tell you, an automaton.

Me? ^^; I hope that's a good 'you'. :) I know, I know, you're right--I just tend to be quirky about new things. And being the perfectionist who sees success and approval as measures of self-worth (uh, bad me, I know *flails*), I tend to be a bit freaky about the potential of not doing something well. I am doing this for fun, I know that, honestly--I just have to remind myself that when the knee-jerk reaction starts up. ^^; And hey, I can't help but have a few stupid dreams that I hope I don't have to let go of right off the bat. *grins*

Heh. What's going to be amusing is how it's gonna be almost-29-year-old me, with like three early-high-school-age boys. *snickers* That's like a bad anime waiting to happen or something. ^^ *hee*

*hugs again*

Di! Fellow Mac user. ~thrashes~ Upgrade your butt and go get Omni web. Have you tried it? It's wonderful stuff. Dump that god awful Netscape stuff. ~shudders~ I tried it when ff.net updated to their new, unimproved version. For about 34 seconds that is. Omni web is good stuff. And no pop ups. But only works for OSX.

http://www.omnigroup.com/

I've found that a combination of Omni and ~grimaces, groans, gripes~ IE... works really well for me. Get OSX as soon as you can. And this is from me, who was a devoted 9 user up to a short time ago. 9 was pretty, familiar, known. Then I was given X. Oh lordy... let's just say good stuff.

Anyway, for now, though I am utterly loathed to admit it, until you get X you're best bet is with IE. I know, I know, but... sadly it's the truth. Anything after Netscape 4.2 was just junk. But as a Mac user, you know how it is when it comes to app design from the enemy.

To tell the truth, we're waiting to upgrade to OSX until James buys his next computer--he's really close, just waiting for the next line of PowerMacs to come out. He thought they were going to announce the new line at Mac World, or whatever that convention was, but they didn't--so we'll see what they do in the next couple months. Basically, we're trying to be cheap--if we want OSX now, we have to buy it. If we wait until he buys his next computer, which he's poised to do, it will come with the new machine. Voila. ^^

I've never heard or tried Omniweb. Do you know anything about Opera? What do you think of that? Personally, I'm hoping for no IE usage at all. ^^;;
But yeah, Netscape really bites anymore--it's why I held onto my older version as long as I could. But it's simply getting obsolete, and well, I guess 6.2 hobbles along as well as IE5. Dunno. I haven't made a decision yet, as I didn't do anything online last night. I'll have to figure something out tonight, tomorrow night. ^^;

*hugs*
