Ok, now I'm feeling kinda freaked out. :x I saw an image in the morning paper of the path of the tornado Sat night/Sun am, and...holy *hell*, I knew it came close to our house, but I had no idea it was that close. We were just blocks from the path of it, as it ran down 132nd and cut northeast starting just barely south of us. *Blocks*. The phobia has definitely kicked in, and yeah, right on the edge of freaking out. Over 24 hours later. Stupid, yes?
Was looking at the World-Herald photo gallery at http://omaha.com/ and there was a lot more and more extensive residential damage than I'd realized even yesterday. Where I'm at it's mostly just trees and whatnot--further into Millard proper there was some significant property damage to businesses and homes, some major, some outright destroyed. And that Walmart/Target damage? I find out was a partial *roof collapse* in the Walmart. Holy heck.
The thing that is really getting everyone--it all started about 2:22 am. The sirens didn't start until 2:27 am.
Yeah. It was only a category EF-2, and there was no injury or worse--and I and those I know directly have no major damage. But still. Really freaked out. *Really* freaked out. So goddanged close. I am *not* going to forget the sound of it.
