You know, it is sort of an awesome day when, on one of my work mailing lists, I see the subject heading Re:[ACAT]Yaoi. (It's a message briefly describing yaoi and shounen-ai, in response to a thread on subject headings for teenage romance and how to work in concepts from other cultures.) Just makes me kinda go :D! Though it really shouldn't feel that unusual that it would show up in discussion--public libraries especially are very commonly carrying manga of all kinds in their collections nowadays. But still. :D! Amused geek is amused.

Speaking of geek, one of the network people had to do some stuff to our computers because of a server problem this morning. And I didn't think to fully shut down my machine for her--so I stood outside my officelet blushing like mad and telling her to ignore my desktop wallpaper >_> In all it's brilliantly colored Jack and Yuusei Yugioh 5D's glory. >_> (http://www.janime.info/5DS/images/wallpaper/02_1280.jpg See? -__- ) DUR HUR HUR, yes I must remind my coworkers how much of a dork I am.

It is rather warm in here, second day in a row. >_< I hope they finish the construction walls soon so they can stop turning off the air handlers.

yaoi makes me happy * ^ *

the wallpaper makes me even more curious to see this particular yugioh series. Does it make sense to skip second series and go into the third? and is the third better than the second?

Well, to be honest I'm really, really very new to any Yugioh at all--only finally started getting into the fandom and reading manga for the original series and such end of last year. So I've missed GX entirely. I've read up a small bit about it on wiki sites, just enough to get a basic familiarity on a couple characters (like Yubel). But I really know next to nothing on the show or it's plot.

However, there is a basic continuity between all three series, it sounds like. Allegedly this is some (not specified exactly) time in the future, and it's definitely a very different feel to the world. Not quite the same Domino you'd remember. :x But someone who was/is a GX fan felt that the way the world is in 5D's fits in with certain events at the end of GX. There's definitely a darker feel to the world and series--more serious, grittier I guess you could say.

As far as what's better--honestly, I couldn't really compare them :x I love the original series, and I'm *really* enjoying this new one. There's good/bad points to each. I'd say it's at least worth giving a chance. They're up to 10 eps now (9 subbed)--but even just 4-5 episodes should be possible to tell if it's hooking ya or not. ^^
