In short, my supervisor discussed the matter with the woman who supervises the other half of our section, and she feels there's nothing wrong with it. And he's decided he wants to be consistent, since we are one department. And since the person who is our director obviously doesn't have a problem with it since she uses one all the time. Egads, I can't believe he actually changed his mind.
