Haa, another day will go by without a con report, if I'm not careful. I'm so damned lazy. Guess I'll keep it short, need to get to doing work.

The flights: Flying out was ok, loved the tunnel of lights in Detroit's airport. Very hypnotic. The flights back sucked ass, and I'm reminded that I hate Northwest Airlines. No thanks to them, I was maybe two minutes away from missing my connection. Thx Northwest you blow.

The hotel: Radissons are always decent, but how many times do I have to request damned extra towels? Most places they'll just keep giving them after request #1 until you check out. And nice way to close all access to quick drinks on Sunday :p Typical elevator wheezings and ice machine/soda machine malfunctions.

The convention center: Wow, definitely big. Was pretty much lost all the time. Absofreaking packed constantly--was very very very aware at all times it was 20K+ people.

The panels: ...eh. I didn't get to any. The one I was interested in on Friday, I realized while in the dealer's room I was 5 min away from missing--but when one is already tired, hot, aching-of-feet, and so on, one loses interest in trying to race to said panel. Ahwell. Didn't go to the Sars Wars movie, or the Fan Parodies (tho I wanted to see the STEAM movie), due to other distractions like Artists' Alley, or getting food and just crashing at the hotel. Pretty much the rest of the panels I found easy to convince myself out of. Did go to the AMVs tho. Speaking of which...

The AMVs: I'm really surprised how lackluster some of these were. Usually I really like the Romantic/Sentimental category, but jeez, that was just *blah*. At least there was the one FLCL one in that category to give me something to vote for. Lot of things seemed inappropriate for their categories--one in Romantic that should have been Comedy, stuff in Action that should have been Romantic, stuff in Uplifting that was "eh, WTF?" I still think the Phenomenon (Naruto) vid was one of the most coolest ever and yes, I am biased. Also amused at how well Azumanga Daioh is holding up on repeated AMV treatments--yay for its crack potential. And Real Ninjas is the damned omg funniest video that can't yet be found for sharing. >< Dammit! I *NEED* to see that again. Often. AUGH.

The lines: We were surprisingly lucky at avoiding lines. Got to skip the AMV line by watching some cute Japanese pop singer, found others in the line for the dealers' room as it was already moving, even the huge huge omg prereg line went really surprisingly fast, even if it did route us to outer Mongolia first. The worst line was the 45min-hour wait I had at the convention center Starbucks (went to the hotel one the next time >_>; )

The costumes: Eh. I dunno, stuff just wasn't wowing me this year. I just don't think there were as many as I expected, and while some were good, a lot were just cruddy. : ( I still think the best con to go to for cosplay is Anime Iowa. I only took a few pictures, which is kinda sad, as I actually had enough in the way of battery power and memory.

The artshow: Bleh. See my previous Anime Iowa comment. Much better idea was to wander through Artists' Alley and get prints/sketches there (got to meet and buy from Ponderosa, so cool :D :D )

The anime: Actually, the thing I most want to see more of now is Firefly. ^^; I think I'll watch more Airmaster, and even Anj is interested in checking that out. Guu...something something something Hale something Guu...I'm like the only person in the world that just doesn't click with this style of humor. >_>; I dunno. It just didn't get me--one of those things I get snarky at, for some weird reason. Oh and when new Hellsing comes out I will dl and get yesyesyes o_o *wants*

The loot: Actually, I didn't buy too much. Got a new Minekura artbook, a handful of doujinshi, a cardboard box for holding CDs that's the gheiest Naruto/Sasuke thing I've seen like evar <3<3, and ummm...ohyeah, Sasuke and Naruto plushes, some stuff for other people (yay, ready for Gina's and Anj's birthdays), and ummm...I'm blanking on the rest. I'll have to note it later if I forgot stuff.

The thankyous: Arty got me the Two Lumps plushies~! :D :D :D<3 I'm so gleeing over those--tres cute. And yay for nice Sasuke keychain from Sue--good metal one, so it should last a long time, even with how rough I am on stuff. And to Nix for payin' for my dinner at the Wharf Rat pub on my birthday : )<3 And to Nix, Sue, Brandon, and Andrew for letting me be a dork to them all weekend, and to Arty for not being pissed when I barely gave him any hangout time all weekend >_>. And to Sharon for being so nice : ) --was awesome to meet in person. *hugsbunches to everyone*

The webcomic artists: Matt and Ian from MacHall were really awesome to say hi to--they don't give themselves enough credit. Also saw Fred Gallagher to get a signature and pic for Anj. Didn't see Lem from the Bunny comic, but he left a sketch for me to send to Mom so he is definitely an awesomely cool d00d. Got my badge signed by a very quiet Hawk from Applegeeks, and got some prints from the guy who does the Rob & Elliot comic--he and his buddy were really friendly : ) And I am still flailing with much *much* woe because I didn't get to see Scott Ramsoomair. T_______________T Didn't figure out where they'd hidden him away (back of the dealer's room WTH??) until Sunday after he'd already left. Suckage. :( :(

The restaurants: Edo Sushi in the Inner Harbor was a random and wonderful surprise. Great food and really friendly staff, and we were there before the hordes of fangeeks decended so it was quiet and we had good service. Also got to go to that pub/microbrewery I already mentioned, the California Pizza Kitchen (yay :D) and Legal Seafood. All good stuff--some really amazingawesome desserts at those places.

Um. I meant to keep it short. >_o Ahwell. Anyway, I don't think I'm forgetting anything. If I am, I'll edit it in later. It was quite the experience. Perhaps they didn't have the level of guests and music they usually do, but it was still a good trip. I love getting away and getting to see new places and hang out with folks. And I love indulging my strange yen for wandering around alone in con-crowds; don't know why, it just makes for good think time for me.

And to those I was threatening to smother with a pillow...I didn't mean it. Really. :D

Always takes several days to get back to 'normal'...still not in the swing of things at work. Am partially unpacked, but need to unpack loots and do laundry. Least I did my bills and caught up on all online/game stuffs.

(And how can I have 85 icons and have trouble finding one I want to use..? >_> )

Right. Anyhoo.
