Woke up extremely stressed and tense, feeling very 'crowded' if that makes sense. Am drifting into cranky, emotional, snappish, and prone to losing my temper at nothing. Am really wanting to take some time off today, but it won't be much--have a lunch thing and then a meeting at 2.

Anj discovered Howl's Moving Castle has been in town at the AMC theaters for who knows how long now. Will be seeing it Saturday.

Onyxia raid Friday, MC Sunday afternoon. Note to self to do laundry/bills stuff Saturday am. I wonder when that FedEx Ground pkg is going to get here.

Major bruise from one of yesterday's allergy shots--damned Bebop kept trying to nuzzle that arm while I was at the computer. Still aching much now. Speaking of Bebop, idiot thing wouldn't stop meowing this morning. Thought I was going to tear my hair out.

Coulda used some Starbuck's this morning. But trying to only indulge in that every couple weeks, so didn't allow myself. Fecking tired, could have used that.

So. "Willy Wonka" Hostess cupcake, is one where the icing and filling are violently purple, with a bit of orange icing for decoration. Why did I buy this again? Ohyeah, 'cause I'm a dork.

At least the sprinkler system installers here at work won't be painting pipes or drilling huge masses of cement/plaster dust into my work area today. That will be so lovely.

[Edit: And just finally comprehending the UK news. Fucking hell. As if I weren't already ready to hate humanity anyway... Just about makes a person want to cry. (Just about? Ha. So fucking emotional as it was...)]

...Willy Wonka cupcakes sounds wrong, if only because he makes candy, not baked goods...

...Then again he might, I dunno, never read the book--as far as I'm concerned it was just a super spiffy movie with Gene Wilder.

Tim Burton? Who's that?

---

As for London, it sounds like it is toning down in seriousness to 3 blasts and 1 bus, which is much better than the original estimate of 6-7 plus the bus.

They are wrong, trust me. The colors are just...frightening. And I'm still not sure why I bought them, other than twisted curiosity. And my penchant for grocery shopping hungry.

And correct, he only made candy, if I'm remembering right. I read the book as a kid, loved the original movie--and have much reservations about this remake. >_<; Makes me want to rend the Gene Wilder version.

Huh, good to hear that. What a mess though. Just...gets me even more pissed-like at things than I was already. >_>;

Yeah, Depp and Burton are like, 'lol the original suxxored you guys suck for liking it this one is bettar' and yet they're including scenes about Wonka's youth and relations to his father, which aren't even in the book. Burton says it's so you understand where Wonka's coming from, so that he's not just a weird guy.

HE'S WILLY FUCKING WONKA.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... and Zaphod's head didn't pop up out of some weird 4th demision hidden inside of his chest and Ford wasn't black... and don't get me started on LotR... Unless we, the book readers, are ready to lead an army to Hollywood, we'll just have to sit back and learn to accept Hollywood's changes to our favorites.

There's an easy way to do it--don't see the movie.

Trust me, Hollywood money is spreading thin lately, so even one person not seeing a movie hurts a lot--the movie industry is in a 12% decline. So, sure, I may not march in and demand change but I can certainly not spend my 9 bucks on the movie.

Plus, Burton's attitude is worse than edits made for time constraints--Plus Mos Def did a great job as Ford. Burton's attitude is that 'my movie is better than the old one cause I follow the book' and then he just sort of tosses things in because 'you need this information.'

You could say the first movie wasn't true to form because there were songs, but the first movie has the 'feel' of Willy Wonka. Johnny Depp looks like Michael Jackson.

And as for LotR, it's another 'you have to actually make the movie watchable' type thing--even the extended versions leave things out and they're almost 5 hours long.

Editing stuff is different than adding stuff just because you think you know what's best for the story--you aren't leaving out original information, you're adding in your own fanfiction.

So it is decided.. o_o I shall go get a gamecard today and get to lv.60 by tomorrow morning so I can piggyback on the Onyxia Raid.

Heh... that reminds me. I have a funny WoW video to show you.

You fight the grumpy beasts in the morning whilst I fight the tummy owies. >_>; Whenever I get up early for work, I fight waves of nausua all morning. ^^; I've started to bring a pocket full of tums, hehehe...

That cupcake.. o.o It sounds so, so freaky... I must have it...

Hrm. I've never really tried drinking coffee in the mornings... I usually stick to a Reese's FastBreak candy bar and a Diet Pepsi Vanilla around 10AM. :3 It makes me happy.

Do you remember the end of LotR? The Shire looked pretty good for being destroyed, eh? ^^

Oh, and I completely agree! Mos Def did a fantastic job. I wasn't expecting much after I took a look at the names of some of his songs, but he really surprised me. He got Ford almost perfect.

Hah. XD I'm a Depp fanboy, so I, of course, like the Wonka look. As I said before.. He can oompa my loompa anyday. XD

Oh, and for the record.. I almost never go to the movies anyways. XD *puts on an eyepatch* Arrr.. >3

Well, that's just something missed when they go over chronology--a bit bigger than 'hey your sleeve was green there' but a mistake nonetheless. XD

That could work too; who knows. The best thing is that the movies were good, regadless of a few gaffes.

Good is much better, than, say, Viz editing manga or CMX or something. >D

What, no.

Dammit, I thought we were getting somewhere.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will suck, despite people thinking Johnny Depp is hot, because Gene Wilder made a BETTER movie 30 years ago.

CatCF will, hopefully tank. Because it deserves it. Because Tim Burton is a dick.

Its odd, while it can be slightly annoying I've never minded dogs barking a lot, because its quite possible to get through to them to "Shut up!" without having to actually punish them. They tend to get the idea from the tone of your voice and the "I'm going to strangle you" motion you make with your hands. Cats though, GOD. Shut up. >_< The new cat here is in heat since 2 days ago. She won't shut up. Yowl yowl meow squeek yowl yowl. "SHUT UP." ...........yowl! yoooooowl! I'm about to tie her to a bottle rocket and launch for the moon mission.

EVIL cupcakes. I think I remember there being some kinda weird pastry things in the first room of the original movie though. XD
Heh, coulda gone into work with a hardhat and safety goggles though if they were.

Just heard about UK too from someone else's LJ post. I have to go look up more info on it. I have a feeling its gonna make me tear up to see any pictures of it already...

Its odd, I understood where he was coming from in the original ANYWAYS arge Time Burton you ass. >o< He's not a character who's past you should be seeing. That's just not what he is, the design was not intended for it. Doing so to me will just take away a lot of the mysticism of his character. I will also point out that, he was never "just a weird guy."

HE'S WILLY FUCKING WONKA.

And yes, I have learned through several interviews and articles run about Burton that while many of his films I totally adore, the man is a dick.

So.. because Tim Burton is directing the movie.. it's going to suck.. o.o;

I fail to see the logic in that. Tim has done some rather kickass movie. :3

And no, It -won't- tank. :P There are too many "OMFG! >O Depp! And isn't Tim Burton that dude who did the Nightmare Before Christmas? I so gotta fucking see this movie! :D" and not enough ">O FUCK YOU ALL!! Gene Wilder pwns all!" Think about it. :P A movie that has a actor in it that makes people watch the movie just because he's in it and a director that brought about a movie that is now worshipped by several cliques these days is not going to "tank."

Hah.. I don't see the difference.. the old movie was financed by the Quaker Oats company to push sales for their Willy Wonka candy bar, which ended up suxx0ring. The new movie? Oh, well, it's to get more money too. ^_^

And don't think I'm going to go see the movie because of Depp. :P I was excited when I heard they were remaking it. Depp being in it is just an added bonus. I want to go see it because I loved the old one and I want to see what they do with it now. ^^

But I -want- to know about Willy Wonka's past. o.o It doesn't remove his mysticism, it just lets us love him even more. You've never read a book or watched an anime where you become completely obsessed over a character and then you learn their past and it just makes you go "Wow. o.o This guy is even more amazing than I thought. < 3333"?

It's going to suck because of his attitude, which he sees need to pervade the media with instead of saying 'well these are some of the things we're doing differently'.

And, not enough Gene Wilder fans? Did you miss the last 30 years or what? Regardless, the movie will not make a huge profit. It'll make one good weekend (maybe, depending on what else comes out) And then slowly fade. Regardless of taste in movies the movie industry is hitting a 12% (and climbing) drop in revenue, meaning that the movie will probably open under expected (ie: hoped for) monies.

Depp isn't really a 'bonus'--he's not really that great of an actor, he just happens to look rather nice on celluloid.

And because I like the old one, I'd rather not see Tim Burton stick his tiny weird dick into it's ear because we just have to know why Willy Wonka opened a chocolate factor when the story is about some kid named Charlie, whoever the fuck that is. I mean, jesus, you'd think the movie was called 'Willy Wonka, the guy who hated his father so he opened a bizarre chocolate factory but the story is kind of told from the perspective of this little kid over here who keeps getting in the fucking way of nice headshots of Johnny Depp dressed like Michael Jackson.'

But Roahld Dahl isn't making up the backstory, that's the problem. It's Tim Burton going 'eh this sounds good.' and putting it in there.

If this were in the book originally that'd be fine; hell if Dahl had said 'this seems like something I wished I had added' that'd be great too. But just making shit up to explain things that weren't explained by the original creator is, like I said, basically Tim Burton writing Willy Wonka fanfiction and putting it in his movie.

Erm.. I have to disagree.. but you should be used to that. Despite Depp looking good, I really enjoy his acting. Unlike many actors out there, he can play more than one role. He doesn't get himself stuck in "BANGBANG ACTION STAR!" and then suck at anything else. He can do more than be the "creepy, villain guy" whose only other role he can get is as some freaky guy in a teenage comedy movie. He has variety, which many other actors lack these days. Hell, it wasn't Pirates of the Carribean that got me into Depp. What I really loved was his role in The Secret Window which then led me to seeing him in The Ninth Gate. The Ninth Gate wasn't one of my particularly favorite movies that he was in, but I have to admit, I liked him early on in the movie. By the end, I ended up being a little confused and bored.

And as if I missed the last 30 years.. why, yes I did.. since I haven't even been around for two decades of it. :P Gene might have been all that 30 years ago, but now Depp is what's currently hot in the box office.

At least he's not some dimwitted teen whose catchphrase was "Whoa." who ended up saving the human race from robots and evil programs and then saved the human race again, but this time.. from deeemmoons! oooo!!

I admit, it's not right. The original creator should have written it. But regardless, is it a bad thing to want to see it? Yeah, it is just Tim Burton's fanfiction, but how many people have wanted to see their fanfiction brought to life? Tim is doing just that. If you don't like it, you can ignore that part of the movie, but if you do, it's just adding to your enjoyment. I'd prefer that Tim add onto the story than if he were to change it like other classics. Afterall.. adding vanilla to pepsi, you still have a tasty soft drink. Changing Pepsi's recipe completely.. well.. god knows what you get then.

I like ya. ^_^ You're a cool guy. I get few good debates and even fewer when it comes to novels being made into movies. I'm using my "Grrr..." icons because I get such few chances to and it seemed like a perfect oppurtunity. :3
