Naw, I think back then it was called 'strawberry'...because all the original iMacs had fruit colors--grape, lime, blueberry, strawberry. The iMac I had was a special edition, though--so it was graphite.

But seriously, think of the target audience for the iMac--had to, I mean *had to* have been targetted at females, especially girls and young women. Yeah, sure it spread to anyone buying, but by then really no one knew the color names were girly, just that they were blue, orange, green, etc. ANd look at the imacs now--plain white, nice and gender-neutral. I think the fruitiness of the colors was just a foot in the door to widening their marketshare.

Actually, before I was a bit more PC literate, I wanted a Mac more than anything. They just looked so cool with their colors where as the PCs were bland. Just big gray boxes.

But then again... look at who I am today. XD

Hell, I was looking at getting a new PC the other day and I wanted to get a purple one. ^_^ Blue was normal.. orange was too school-spirited to me.. but Purple... purple had it all.
