whitereflectionSo, closing at "12:30" translates in Secret Service-speak to 'get your asses out of the building at 12:17 now we mean now'. >_o Watched the mibs prowling the campus during the morning, plus the Omaha police set up various special units including the bomb truck--and as we left they were bringing ye olde sniffing dogs into the Library. And press was somewhere on the campus, as I saw the news truck in one of the lots. So was all very weird. Found out that one of my coworkers as well as the faculty member in our department from Afganistan (who'd done translating/archiving work there a year or so back during the constitution drafting) are part of the tour group, and will attend the ceremony this evening. Rather trippy--I guess they had to get full and very detailed background checks to be able to do so.
Anj, Kel, and I hit Jams for lunch and creme brulee *__* Which is a good use of free time, imo. Got the CDs I wanted (yeeeee<3<3 Will game tonight and listen tomorrow), hit the vets, etc. Though the reason I had to go to the vets was that Crystal-cat is now hyperthyroid, and is being put on a daily pill. At least those Pill Pocket treats make it extremely easy to give. But poor thing--hopefully now she'll get back to her normal weight. Though there will be frequent bloodwork for her like there is Bebop, to monitor if all is well; these cats are extremely high maintenance in the vet care costs side of things. Gads.
More time off work Friday afternoon, as the A/C problem the tech found last Friday gets repaired. Motor for the outside centrail air unit that's dying, gonna run four hundred plus...after two felines worth of bloodwork recently, those tickets for flying out to Mom, and what we'll inevitably spend out there... The CC is going *yeek* a bit at the moment. (And I swear I'm spreading it to other people--Anj got her bill for the air fare for her flying to the Czech Republic with her mother this fall, and just got hit with a starter repair on her car. Again, gads.)
