of coffee, of questing, of fish
Feb. 8th, 2005 12:19 pmThe good of this morning: a Starbucks caramel frappucino, a caramel apple muffin, and songs I could sing along with on the radio (I especially liked the "I'm Not Okay" one, still dig "We're All to Blame"...)
The good of last night: Sasuke-rogue is level 30~! :D :D :D :D :D 30~~<3 I'm so happy~ And am set up on quests for Deadmines (even though they're grey, still gonna do 'em), and for the Dark Iron Wars (looks tough). And for the Stockades (green, so not bad...but I need to do the yellow/orange DIW first :x). Fiddled with misc quest stuff, stayed up way, way too late, but was all good.
And Sasuke now has an actual piece of headgear armor--normally I'd shut that graphic off. But it's a leather headband. Headband. ~Hitai-ate~ >D *far, far, far too amused* Dang, I think I'm gonna always have Sasuke in a headband of some sort now, just to keep the theme.
Also, I have decided that Duskwood/Darkshire definitely beats Darkshore on spooky/creepy-coolness. Very Sleepy Hollow, in a way. Was also amused that the people babbling in the chat window randomly started the Ghostbusters theme song...as did my guild when I mentioned it to them. ^^; (Never have said, I'm really liking these people a lot--this is a great guild to have stumbled into. Lucky :) )
Anyway, the thing that killed me there last night: http://wow.ogaming.com/gallery/Mobs-and-Such/Stitches?full=1 The NPCs were attacking it, so I did too. It 2-shotted me ded-ded. :D :D Whoops. ^^;
The good of the past weekend I forgot to mention: I and a handful of others were promoted one rank in the guild to 'veteran'. For some reason this makes me very sparkly. (the ranks are foot soldier, member, veteran, enforcer, and patriarch). Also had a moment while fishing in Baradin Bay, with it being all dark and dim, with the moon shining and reflecting off the water, the sound of waves on the shore, and some really neat music--couldn't help but just smile stupidly and have one of my 'god I *love* this game' feelings.

Cold today, maybe snowy again. And work is the same, but ahwell. I stewed about the student/supervisor problems yesterday, don't feel like doing so more today. Mmm, wonder if I should play tonight, or catch up on sleep. The Starbucks is bound to wear off soon.

Ehhhhhh, and I wrote a little 'song' vaguely inspired by a certain in-game situation... ^^;
As posted to my guild's forum boards:
So last week I discovered why the Tacklebox macro is such a wonderful, necessary thing for someone like me. [to the non-Wow, it with one click switches between equipping the fishing pole and the character's normal weapons] Though the encounter with a Shadethicket Bark Ripper didn't leave me dead (shock), it did reduce my fishing pole from durability 25 to durability 1 before I managed to manually swap out for daggers.
And thus inspiration for the following was sparked. ^^; (Helped along by too many years of Doctor Demento, Weird Al, and Terry Pratchett and their use of the harmless-yet-somehow-bawdy style of lyrics.)
While there is a tune in my head for this, I can't compose music or play an instrument (anymore, been a long, long time since I could)--nor can I sing. So it won't ever be anything beyond text. Just imagine some sort of bar/pub/tavern/drinking-song type melody.
And I apologize for the dork-stupid of this. Sometimes I can't help myself. >_>

The WoW Fishing Pole Song
by Sasuke
When fishin' in the harbor
or fishin' in the bay
When fishin' in the river
or fishin' in the lake
Remember to be wary
of critters big and scary
Don't be caught holdin' your pole, my friend.
Just the other evenin' I
was restin' in a bog
Was thinkin' 'bout my woman,
my ale, my kids, my dog
I wish I'd been a-holdin'
my sword or maybe my knife
Playin' with my pole cost me my life.
Don't matter if it's sturdy,
don't matter if it's strong
Even if your pole's purty
you'll rue holdin' on long
Though sure it's nice to grip it
ain't worth takin' the risk that
All that pole-holdin' could mean your doom.
When fishin' in the harbor
or fishin' in the bay
When fishin' in the river
or fishin' in the lake
Remember to be wary
of critters big and scary
Don't be caught holdin' your pole, my friend.
Those times when you can't help it
you hafta grasp your pole
Look back over your shoulder
for that murloc or gnoll
'Cause creepers got no honor
when skulkin' through the water
They won't kindly wait until you're armed.
Don't think you've solved the problem
and smack stuff with your pole
Heed our advice and warnings--
you'll be the one hurt more
When evil comes a-runnin'
be done with pole funnin' and
Instead have a thick, strong staff on hand!
Soooo, when fishin' in the harbor
or fishin' in the bay
When fishin' in the river
or fishin' in the lake
Remember to be wary
of critters big and scary
Don't be caught holdin' your pole, my friend.
Gods help you if you break it
you'll only end up achin'
Don't be caught holdin' your pole, my friend.
