Gomen, but it's either harass you all, or quack like a duck. ...okay, so I'm making up the quack like a duck option, but what the hey.
So Pike's Mkt. yesterday was cool. It's like this permanent farmer's market/seafood market/craft show, with all sorts of gourmet food shops and places selling world-import handicrafts. Very keen--lots of street musicians, lots of local color. Came back in the evening to watch the Mariners lose on TV (no surprise there...the s is for suuuucks XD Ichiro is cute, tho. ^^ ) Also was rereading Pratchett's Reaper Man, but kept falling asleep. Do love that book, tho. So today is the zoo, and later the Rainforest Cafe <3, and man it's gorgeous-sunny out. But first, the doooooooooom of pictures (or at least a few, trust me only a fraction, off Ma's digital). I apologize in advance, as the pictures are *huge*...she doesn't have software I can resize with on her computer.
So the new public library I was talking about--here's a pic of the outside, and of the scary red meeting level (seriously, Star Trek hallucination-acid trip episode ._. )

Then two shots of one of my favorite sights out here, the Space Needle. First is as viewed from the front steps of the Asian Art Museum, second is a view from the downtown/waterfront area.

Some shots from at the aquarium...
First is of me by one of the tidal pool exhibits, trying to ignore Ma with the camera. (Sometimes I don't mind photos, other times I'm extremely conscious of needing a haircut and how I desperately need to exercise and eat right, especially once this trip is done...)

The kickass-cool jellyfish tank:

Feeding the seagulls french fries outside the Ivar's stand on the waterfront. Second shot is one of the several times I was feeding them out of hand--felt really odd when they'd swoop by and grab it. James was especially amused, as can be seen in the background (he was sure I was going to get nipped ^^; )

The storefront for the Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe. Mostly cheap tourist crap, but some cool-creepy oddities (like old west era mummified bodies, a kamikaze flag, a shrunken head, an old Chinese two-man rifle, etc etc etc).

Okay, gotta explain this. Mom...is a camera ninja. Seriously. Everytime you turn around, *bam*, there goes the flash. So she kept getting shots like the below >_<

Egads.
A shop in the Pike's Place Market has some Seattle-parody comics above their door...
http://dibutt.rasuberrypie.org/filesofdoom/photos/comics.JPG
Also notable down at the Market is the very first Starbucks store ever. Otherwise known as Mecca. Behind me is some of the street musicians that frequent the area--that group was particularly keen.

Okay. So the Market area, as goes for a lot of the downtown of Seattle, is desperately short of public restrooms. People always beg the city to build more. So, instead of building something with a lot of stalls for an efficient amount of money, in true Seattle fashion...they build the ubertoilet. Automated, computerized (computerized!!), and only a single stall, these buggers cost about $30,000. There's a computer voice that tells the person inside all the special toilet instructions and rules (>_o;;;;?), and it takes forever...so even with few people there's a line. And then after each and every person is done, the thing shuts itself to do this automated sanatizing thing--thus everyone is kept waiting in line even longer. And woe to the person who ever takes longer than fifteen minutes, because at that point, the doors open automatically, whether you're still...seated *cough* or not. ...yee. No, I didn't use.
And in the first pic, that's my mother in line behind the guy. In the background is some of Seattle's downtown, as well as Seahawks Stadium and Safeco Field in the far distance. ^^ The second pic has one of Seattle's local color, part of the crowd that was hanging around me while I waited for Ma (the crowd whom were smoking things that were definitely not regular cigarettes. ^^; ).

Some of Seattle's police on horseback, in front of the Seattle Art Museum and the Hammering Man sculpture.

And lastly (yay, gomen. >_>; ), me playing with Mom's cat Splut, who is very stoned on a new catnip toy. It wasn't until I saw this photo that I realized I had a very dead french fry on the bottom of my shoe ._. (poor abused Doc Martens boot).

Right, enough for now. Apologies for the photo-spam d00m. *hugs as I still miss people ;-; *
