Lame Duck Days

The last two days before the University winter break, before being off until January 5th. Huge amount of people have taken vacation time, so there are rather few here, and it's way too quiet. From experience, I know it's rather hard to focus and get anything done, as vacation/holiday brain sets in pretty bad--so it's kinda like the rest left here are just going through the motions, and fighting a losing battle against low-productivity. Is especially hard since my supervisor and dept. chair are among those not present--the mass of new books and books to be sorted, though, do loom and remind me I really can't afford to slack without it being noticed after end of break.

But am of course planning what to do during the time off. Definitely have to get Christmas stuff mailed off on the 26th. Must. Probably will give in and take the fragile things to the UPS store, as I'm worried I won't get them packed right. Am telling myself I need to clean the house, but we'll see if that happens. I hope to spend at least some time hanging out with Anj. And I want at least one day where I can go see RotK again, alone preferably, so I can soak it up and react without worrying about anyone seeing me get emotional. Christmas Day will be over at my Dad and stepmother's, and I've got to be in good cheer on that day, for them--also will have to call Mom and open things while on the phone with her.

Meant to bring in my Dennis Leary - No Cure For Cancer CD, to bring my mood up with stupid humor...but forgot, naturally. >_< Dang. Have to see what I've got on the iPod that isn't morose. Need to find my creativity again, and get back to being stupid and giggly--I figure, I've bought myself some time, got things calm again, shouldn't waste it. Have wasted so damned much time sleeping, I can't continue that.

Happy first day of winter/shortest day of the year, ne?

Argh, you win. >D The words 'iced phallus' have been cracking me up all morning. Dunno why I get like that, but sometimes certain words just hit me right.

Now that I think about it, sounds like the name of a rock band, too... ^^

Nothing wrong with a little icing to make things go down a bit easier. I might suggest declining if you're asked to blow out the candles, however. ^_~

*snugs you* It's all good. Quit worrying about the rest and just the enjoy the holiday for what it is. ^_^
