whitereflection: (MADNESS?! THESE...ARE...HAPPY TREES!!!!!)
First day of the year that we've had to turn on the AC. Not *that* hot, but woooo, gotta love that humidity.

Went to the zoo first thing when it opened. OMG Memorial Day weekend madness this is Spartaaaaaaaaaaaaa!. Definitely the epitome of a summer zoo trip--so much sun (yep, I'm burned), and you're sticky from sweating, hair's a mess from the wind, blind from so much bright sunlight. Got to see the new butterfly pavilion, which is very neat. Though it seemed that today was insect copulation day, no lie. And darned near every other animal was excreting :p Including one bird that bombed my mother as we passed under some trees--got her t-shirt sleeve, a big splot on her arm XD Oh, we were so grossed out (and laughing XD; Lulz, Mom!) Lucky for her she had a bunch of napkins in her backpack, and her water bottle. ...she said it was hot when it hit XD XD XD

Afterwards went to a nearby burger joint that is one of those iconic Omaha landmarks (been around since at least the 1960s), yet I'd never been before. Called Zesto's, it's the sort where you order at a counter, but the only seating is el cheapo picnic/patio tables outside. Another quintissential experience, being out in the sun and wind at a rickety table, with a massive omghuge sloppy burger, fresh battered-fries, and real soft serve ice cream (like not the blah version DQ has) dripping off the cone faster than you can eat it. Messy, messy, messy. But something that has to be experienced at least once.

I'm so, so glad tomorrow's another day off 8D So need it.
whitereflection: (reading is crazy shit)
Didn't have enough people for the raid, certainly not enough of the right classes for anything (woo, all dps!). So I logged, and now I'm reading a book I borrowed from Anj last year (haha whoops) and listening to Adiemus while I rip CDs. This is the life. ^___^ (Book title: Lois Lenz, Lesbian Secretary. Blurb from the back cover: 'Wild women! Lurid Adventures! Shocking desires! And a lot of Filing.' I am *so* very amused XD )

Sudden interest in reading things that are not fanfic lately (thank god, eh?). Couple days ago I finished one I'd borrowed from my brother, Our Gang by Philip Roth--political satire about Richard Nixon. It was extremely strange, and made me laugh more than I expected.
