back in the saddle
Aug. 16th, 2007 08:49 amSo last night I got to go to Gruul's Lair with the guild, which was the first time I've gotten to raid since...October, I think? And definitely a first to be part of a 25-man run. It was neat to do, actually. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed getting to be part of a big-group instance. 5-mans just aren't the same at all.
But it was also a first for the guild to be trying Gruul's at all, but after only 2 1/2 hours of work we'd gotten High King Mulgaur and his adds down. w00t w00t :D http://nightmarewalking.com/ <-- Front page of the guild site has the group photo, including Ak in his murloc costume on the left. I got lolz from that thing from the others, especially when doing the dance innit. Course, then in the way that guild life just is, afterwards one of the long-time members, the main shaman, quit to join a more hardcore raid guild--which is too bad, seemed like a decent guy. Surprised really to see so few shamen in the guild; they always seemed to be so populous horde-side.
Surprising also was the damage breakdown. Back on Alleria in LC, rogues and DPS warriors were *always* top of the damage. I figured switching classes I'd have to get used to no longer being up there. But top of the damage now...warlocks. Didn't expect that at all--so guess I am still part of a class that's top in DPS. (But seriously, the overall breakdown of last night's work was warlock, warlock, shadow priest, warlock, rogue, my warlock, etc.--to place 6th with my bleh non-Karazhan gear surprised the heck out of me, though I did respec talents to match a couple of the other 'locks.)
Getting actual DKP after so long was tingly. Though they do a bidding system, blehhhhh XP That always fails, people end up just bidding each other up and screwing each other over. Hope that maybe someone raises the concept of the zero sum/flat cost system to them. Still not a perfect system, but much better and fairer than bidding ever would be.
