whitereflection: (burn roy doxicon)
Every once in a while, I have to remind myself why I don't go looking at the photographs in some of the books I catalog, no matter how must-look-at-a-car-accident-tempting it may be. Books showing images of war and the like are bad enough. But books about injury treatment, like for sports physicians? And books about medical treatment like for EMTs/firefighters...? *shudders* I am the worst combination of wuss, stupid, curious, and extremely freaking squeamish--with an extremely vivid imagination and a brain that refuses to let go of certain images/sounds/etc. to boot.

But it's dumb that I have to *remind* myself..you'd think if someone knew the burner was hot, so to speak, they wouldn't keep touching it. And yes, I have a bio degree. There's a reason I'm not a doctor, nurse, or EMT, and why I preferred to work in labs dealing with cells as opposed to anything else. And why the only horror movies I like are cheesy old ones, or the sort that are actually comedy.

Ughhh...*shudders* Wuss...a wuss lacking the capacity for Pavlovian learning, it seems. Must steel wool brain.
