So. Have now seen Mars. Seems like all of Omaha went to Neale Woods Observatory to see Mars. Well, at least several hundred people of Omaha. Waugh.

De play by play: Met up with folks at Michael's church a bit after 8. Left 8:15ish, got to Neale Woods about 8:30ish. Had to park a half-mile away and hike up steep hills to the nature center, due to crowds. (Shoulda been a warning, eh?) Got to wait in line to get into said nature center. Tho was given a free Snickers Almond bar for waiting (do you know the Snickers Almond bar is just the old Mars bar repackaged?). Paid the entrance fee, waited and waited in line until the 9:30 presentation. Which lasted what, ten minutes? Then headed out to wait in line for the telescopes.

Said wait in line wound over about a half mile of paths, and lasted from 9:45 to very close to midnight so...over two hours? *blinks* Argh. Am not used to being on my feet for two hours. Finally got to the telescopes (14 inch, I think?), got to see Mars. Was a somewhat smallish, bright white disc--though I could see a brighter white area for the polar cap, and some shadowy areas where the dark regions are.

Then the half mile walk back to our vehicle--at least it was mostly downhill this time, then the drive back, and my drive back home. Egads, didn't expect to arrive home about 1. Egads.

Am wiped the heck out. And covered in dust, covered. Bleh, then the smell of sweat and bug spray (and I'm still gnawed on by insects :p ). So scuzzy. Feet and knees are complaining, as are sinuses due to massive overdoses of allergens. But I have seen a once in a lifetime astronomic event. It was worth it, really, in the end. That's what geek me is telling whiny-brat-little-kid me.

Am skipping my walk tomorrow am. Think I've had more than enough for this 24-hour period.

And am going to die in bed for five hours now. Weeeee.

(Two other notes, first. One, Michael has pneumonia again. Two, Kea has gifted me with scans of the most incredible InuKai dj--Mariage Eros by Yamada D. Yamada D now 0\/\/nZ my soul, and I want every one of their PoT djs and anthologies.)

Now this is funny. Extremely funny. Too bad Nix doesn't read here to see this--she'd understand. Heh.

Am getting a pathetic amount of work done today. Pa. The. Tic. Not that I'm even goofing off--I'm just going so damned slow. Like wading through moleasses slow. And it occurs to me that I'm so often stupid-slow like this--I work slow, I run slow, I walk slow, I think slow, I write slow, I *anything* slow. I'm like the stupid turtle or vulture in the old Warner Bros. cartoons, plodding along in this dim sort of way.

Had a monster, monster blood sugar crash earlier, naturally which hit a little way into Japanese class. My hands were shaking so badly I almost couldn't write. *annoyed* Could barely make it the quarter mile back across campus to the library where my lunch was (even though it was early compared to my usual break time), and almost stopped at the student center along the way just to get *something* to eat *right then*. And trust me, at a time like that, those two microwave minutes are the longest you'll ever experience in your life. Hate how long it takes to feel normal after that--still foggy, vaguely week feeling, tired, was still shaky until maybe an hour ago. Still don't know why I got like that...I had a decent breakfast. What's sad, is I can tell I'm going to be hungry again within an hour. I dunno what the hell's up today.

Hrm...stupid allergens. Damned midwest.
