I never realized until last night that I have 6 gig of *just* AMVs on my hard drive at home. Then the 5 gig of mp3s (not that much, there, I know), and who knows how much in the way of images--is taking a lot of CDs to back up my stuff in prep for my OS upgrade. Just those things will take around 18 CD-ROMs--and that's not counting the CDs I've already done of anime and misc stuff (documents, icons, AIM stuff, bookmarks/html work, etc)...I think I have umm, around 7 so far? I shudder to think at how very much I could have lost if my hard drive died, as I've never backed up anything during all these years, until now. ^^;;

Got my Shounen Jump yesterday. :D I still really like all the manga innit--except DBZ, natch. Am really getting fond of Naruto (*love* the character designs) and Sand...um, total blank there. Whatever that one is about the little demon kid and cohorts in the desert world, written by the same guy as who does DBZ. Is cute, whatever it is. Sandland? Or something. And am waiting for YYH to go faster so I can see Kurama and Hiei. *much impatience* Tho, you know, I wouldn't mind if they just did a volume all devoted to One Piece. Want more of that! Like now! *flails* I wanna be Luffy when I (don't) grow up. ^^ And Zoro...and Sanji. They're so my heroes. >D And I'm reminded that I really do like the cooler character designs in Shaman King--not the stupid ones, which look *horrid*, but like Yoh and Amidamaru, and some of the others that show up later. (Reminds me about that one wallpaper Kenji pointed out to me way back when--yeeeowrrrr... >D ) They could stand to make the SJ volumes like twice as big, though--I would dig that.

Ah, I really don't have anything to say today, do I? Wah. ^^;

*sudden thought* Kenji! Rei! Are we ever going to be able to figure out a con to meet at this year? I gotta start saving/planning now if I'm going to one besides Akon and Anime Iowa (dammit! Akon! I gotta buy my tickets for that! *flails*)

Bookness!

While I was cataloging today, I stumbled on a book called Alternative Worlds in Fantasy Fiction, part of the Contemporary Classics of Children's Literature series. And lo and behold, within it is a 36-page article on Terry Pratchett. Pratchett! And it's, while a bit tongue-in-cheek, a scholarly/academic article. :D I love it! Nix, if you're reading this, I'm going to photocopy it for myself, you, and my mother.

And in case anyone questions it being in a children's literature series, that was one point the author of the article was poking at a bit--that while much of Pratchett's work is oriented towards an adult audience, and a few for a juvenile audience, really it all is readable by almost any age. Just how old you are and what you know influences how much you'll get the social commentary and literary references beneath the wit and humor. And who knew that Pyramids parodies the 1857 book Tom Brown's Schooldays? XD I just *love* Pratchett--the man is freaking scary-intelligent, in my opinion. If I only could think and write like him.

*dances about* Ah, the odd little fun bits of my job. XD
