Kurikuri? ^^;
Jan. 11th, 2003 12:59 pmFriend Kurt's wedding last night was...interesting. Involved a lot of racing around town (race to get home from work, race to get James to the church, race to get gift certificate wedding gifts, race back to church, etc). Then the ceremony was long (for Protestant-Methodist types, that is. Catholic ceremonies are hella-longer), and they played too many songs...gah, the smooshysap. *flails* Then we all sat forever (over an hour) while they took pictures afterwards. Criminy.
And it didn't help that while there was food, the person who was supposed to be coordinating the serving of the food was clueless and had their head up their ass, so none of the appetizery things were set out, and we were without any sustenance until the pictures were done after 9pm. *flails* Had a bad blood sugar crash, myself. ^^;; Very bad. Got very angry and hostile. ^^;; James, who was just supposed to ush, happened to wander into the kitchen, realized no one knew what the hell was going on and that no one was going to take the iniative, and then took charge and got people setting dishes of food out--by the time the wedding party was done with the pics, the relish trays/appetizery stuff and buffet was actually ready. Though the guests were, as I mentioned, rather cranky from not having eaten in so long. ^^;;
Unfortunately, this meant James was coordinating food set-up, serving, clean-up, etc. until the reception wrapped up near midnight. Kelly also pitched in, as did some other of the church members, guests, and a couple family members. But most of their families did freaking nothing, and the bride's mother, who was supposed to be coordinating kitchen and cleanup, acted like a fucking toadstool. What a moron. Glad I'm not related to her. I ended up serving cake, tho only Anj and Gina had been asked to--there was just so many people (they actually ran out of seating at one point), and two cakes to cut and serve from. Not to mention Anj and Gina don't know how to cut and serve from a wedding cake, so I kinda had to coach a little on that. Not like I really know, but I kinda was winging it a bit, and it was working, basically. ^^;;
But for being chaos incarnate, and everything taking forever, it went ok. There was some music played, tho I only danced to YMCA, Love Shack, and I Will Survive. (Okay, so I was kinda doing the Macarena near the kitchen with Anj and Kelly ^^; ) Just wasn't up to the Electric Slide, and I so don't do any country, the Chicken Dance, or that horrid 70s/Jackson 5-esque version of the Hokey Pokey (or was that actually the Jackson 5? *scratches head). Just wished we hasn't gotten caught up in basically working the reception, as all of us had talked about leaving fairly early--so much for that. *flails*
But Kurt finally has found someone that is good for him, and that he's good for--who loves him for who he is, and who appreciates all he is and shares in it. He's one of those guys that is simply too nice--who either end up alone, or in a relationship where they're sucked dry/taken advantage of or have the good parts of them beaten down for not being 'normal'. But he found something good, and that's cool--you can tell she's just like him, because they decided their cake topper was going to be customized action figures of Sgt.Flint and Lady Jane (of GI Joe), dressed in wedding outfits. Terribly cute. :) (And we've seen Kurt go through a lot since we've known him in college and since the days where he roomed with James and me--he *deserves* good things, after the rough stuff he's had to deal with.)
Anyway, enough babble about that. Guess I'm going to take it easy some today. Tho I have to do bills and laundry. :p Maybe I can do some of that tomorrow. Oh, and gotta find someone to repair our water softener--got up this morning to find that it'd had an error when recharging last night, and it had been gushing water down the drain for hours. >< SHZT. The waste, the waste! *FLAILS* And I hope that doesn't fsck up our water bill. Finding a repair person will be interesting, tho--so far, the closest repair person is in Blair, a good thirty miles away from Omaha. Dunno if they'd come into the city without charging us a ton. Gotta find out from the softener distributor if there's a closer repair person--otherwise, if it's too expensive, guess we go back to normal hard water. We've always had it before, this thing just came with the house when we bought it, so was worth utilizing.
But really, that's not very interesting, is it? Gomen. *sighs* My life is boring, mundane crud, ne?
Got a extremely nifty package from Tokkan, tho! :D I now have FLCL, and some eps. of Love Hina (figured I'd try that series out--why not? and it'll amuse Brandon, to boot. :) ). But FLCL...watched the first ep, and *God* is that weird! And twisted! And I don't get it! But I love it!! LOVE it! >D I love the characters--they amuse me muchly. Heh. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
And that reminds me that I've got anime eps from Kea from back on the Wichita trip Labor Day weekend that I need to go through! Damn, how could I have forgotten all those? I'm a moron! (That, and my desk is a mess--amazing what I've been rediscovering lately).
But really I need to find some time to do art stuff--got a few designs I wanna sketch out and eventually do as oil pastel. With this stained glass class coming up, I need to have things in mind that I can start doing in glass eventually.
Bills, gotta do bills...gotta quit goofing off and wasting time, bleh. >p *thwaps herself*t
