My cable modem chortles evilly...
Mar. 24th, 2002 10:49 am...having once again made me feel like a stupid git. ><;;
Okay, so sometime yesterday morning, I suddenly lose the ability to connect to the web, or get email. I figure it's my ISP having a flaky server or something, and wait for them to fix it.
All day...and all night...
So I finally get irked this am when I try to connect and yet again fail miserably--so I call Qwest Choice TV & Online, and heyyyy, nothing's wrong *there*, but the tech notices that sometime yesterday my cable modem has decided it's coming from a different IP than usual, one several blocks away.
Tech then notes that we *probably* didn't suddenly up and move yesterday, so he has me disconnect the power cord from the cable modem and reconnect it (giving me a totally-stupid moment when I do so to our *router* first...ergh >< ). And lo and behold, cable modem and ISP start signalling each other, it's on the right IP again, and voila, it's up and running again just fine.
Disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. I can't get my internet for 24 hours, and the solution is disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Pull out plug, stick plug back in.
... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!
And the cable modem cackles to itself in a maniacal and evil way. It's work here was done, and now it could proceed to plot some other way to show me I'm a stupid git. *flails* >_< God, I hate computers sometimes.
Other than that, been doing some fun stuff. Got to see Ice Age Friday night--the weasely rat-thing Scrat is a *scream*--and ate Japanese (not my favorite restaurant in town, but still good). Tempura shrimp hand rolls are *so* luv. ^^
Saturday was an oddly artistic day. I finally got to gesso-ing the other side of that coffee table top--I'm thinking maybe five layers of gesso and I'll finally be able to start the real work on applying my design and painting it. I started an oil pastel work, experimenting with using canvas instead of paper. It's working ok, I think--certainly much better than canvasboard. Canvasboard and oil pastel just don't seem to work well together, IMO.
Had Anj and Gina over in the evening, and we dyed Easter eggs. Anj does absolutely cool designs on her eggs with the wax pencil, so hers are neat. I was very, very slow, and only did a few eggs...mine look very odd. I did one in many different wash-layers of colors, and it looks strangely like a river rock--kind of grey, but with all these speckles and shades to the color.
But the two best things to yesterday--Nixy calling me (Happy! Eeeee!! *dances around*) and me finally getting off my ass and calling Kea (Happy happy happy! ^__^ ). It'd been forever since I'd talked to Kea for real, so that was damned fun. I was a dork, but oh well--it was fun anyway. *grins*
Today it's one of the day-long DnD games. Eh. *shrugs* I should take my art stuff along, play with oil pastels more. I seem to me in that sorta mood.

Dork ja nai!
(Well, er, not really, but lj is a marvelous cure for boredom, most days..)
I had the most delightful time talking to you! *glomps* I have missed you so much, and it completely made my day to hear your voice. I'm doing so wonderfully well in the phone department: in the past week and a half or so, I've talked to you, Nix (more than once!), Moe, and Sabine. And I've realized just how much I miss that sort of contact.
So, the conclusion? You won't easily be rid of me for a long, long time. ^_^
And...I definitely think I've found my hair for Akon. ^_______^
*glomps ya* I love you more than words, darling. You make my day sunshine-y, just by being in it.

Re: Dork ja nai!
Date: 2002-03-25 08:09 am (UTC)^__^ I understand what you mean by the phone thing, though. I mean, IMing is easy and cheap, and lets a person talk to many folks at once, but I really *like* hearing a voice. It's so much more real. And like I'd *ever* want to be rid of you, silly! *glompshugssqueezes*
You mean Tohma hair, Hisoka hair, or one that'll work for both?
##^^## By the way, you say nice things...you're too damned sweet to me, ya know. *extraextra hugs, blushing but smiley*
Love&hugs!
