I think the quote, "Holy fuck, that *IS* Johnny Cash!" just about sums it all up, ne?

O.O

XD Actually, I haven't seen the video. But I heard this song on the radio, and it was driving me nuts, because it sounded like an older guy, like a singer from the 70s. I started thinking of it as the song with the Johnny Cash-like singer. Then I went searching for it, and only found reference to the NIN version, which confused me as I knew it *so* was not NIN. Blew me away when the DJ on the radio said it was Cash. I mean, when I'd thought Johnny Cash-like, I hadn't realized it actually was him. ^^ Tripped me the heck out. I grew up with my Dad listening to his stuff all the time--to hear it again, on a college alternative station...man, blew my mind.

Gotta admit, I'm not a fan of country, but the only c/w I do respect is the older gritty country--like up through the late 70s. Those singers for the most part actually lived the tough lives they sang about.

Heh, so you'll be getting that CD then? *hugs*

Anyway, hope you're doing ok--I can't believe how busy you've been! Poor thing... *extrasnuggles* Take care of yourself! And no calling yourself pathetic or a loser, ok? I mean that! You work more than almost anyone I know, whether out at your job, or at home--it's understandable you're not going to be around a ton. *extrahugs, holds you tight* It's okay, we know you care--and we care for you, too, no matter what.

Love you bunches!

My love for Johnny Cash is a deeply held secret. I too am not a fan of country (not counting my odd and new discovery of The Be Good Tanyas) but there's just something different about Mr. Cash. The first time I heard him perform that NIN song... I was in tears. His voice, the look of his lined face. Ah, it's just fantastic stuff.

Funny, the lover was just asking me earlier tonight if I was going to be getting that CD. ^____^ If I do I'll copy it for you.

Thank you for the hugs as well! ~hugs back~ You have no idea how much it helps. Been taking it easy most of the day today, just some slow puttering, a bit of napping and some easy yoga. I could use about a week of that but even one day helps me to feel closer to human. Hope your weekend has been easy and relaxing so far as well.

~loves all over ya~

Oh yeah, I have one other hidden country music love... The movie Honkeytonk Man, with Clint Eastwood. I swear I've seen that movie fifteen times and I still sob my brains out every single time. Puddles, absolute puddles. That movie is really amazing but hurts like hell.

Well, this one is a few years older, but have you heard "The Wanderer" from U2's Zooropa? It's Johnny Cash singing. Wonderful song - scary!!!

*hugs!* ^__~

No, I hadn't heard that song, but I definitely plan to go find it now--especially after seeing the lyrics! Wow. Either that needs a songfic for it, or whenever Nix starts doing AMVs like she's hoped, we gotta lean on her for a Trigun-Wolfwood AMV using that piece. Very cool.

Speaking of he and U2, I noticed that on a previous American Recordings CD (I think it was III), he did a cover of their song, "One". I haven't listened to it yet, though, but I bet it's nicely done.

*many hugs back* Thanks for the heads up on both. :)
