Sleeping quite well in Seattle... ^^
Dec. 24th, 2002 08:16 amGreetings! *waves waves*
Just a quick hi to say that yep, got here ok. The flights were quite smooth, tho the airports were all crowded. The second leg of our flight even arrived a touch early. It was something else flying in over the city, and seeing the glittering lights on a background of total black, and just getting this feeling deep inside of "I'm back". :D
Haven't done too much the past couple days. Sunday Mom proved you can cook a 20lb turkey in a tiny, tiny apartment oven (she wanted much leftovers), and yesterday we went to the Seattle zoo. Their zoo is not as good in some ways as Omaha's (our rainforest pavillion is better, as is our aquarium, and we have more animals), but theirs is much better at having more space and more very natural environments for their animals. We got some really nice pictures on Mom's digital camera--including the wolves, which are much more visible in the cooler weather of this time of year. Very nifty. And we went to a very keen seafood place last night--we'll be going to another seafood place on the waterfront tonight. Yes, I adore Nebraska beef, but I'm also a seafood addict, and NE is just *not* the place to find that sort of thing.
Other than that, just been watching a lot of Southpark, and hanging out with Mom and Dave. It's been nifty. I've been walking by and staring at the Sound muchly. :D (It's just across the street from Mom's apt). I *so* love the ocean. I could watch and listen to it all day all night...yeah... *happy sighs* Even found a few small shells/shell bits that I like already. :)
Anyhoo, not been too much else up. We're taking it easy. Luckily, we all do decently enough at hanging out in this tiny place. Mom's apt building used to be a hotel way back when, so her apt is literally a living room, bedroom, and bathroom, with her kitchen in the hallway/corner between the LR and BR. But even tho there's four of us (Mom, Dave, James and me) and Mom's two cats (Spam and Splut--yes I was a big part of naming them when we got them back in 91 >D ), it doesn't feel that crowded.
Gotta scoot, but thinking of everyone muchly and bunches. *extrahugs to Nix because I didn't comment anything to her today!* Laters!
*Edit* Oh yeah, almost forgot--I babbled about this to someone already, but I should note it here. Something else that was exceptionally keen was looking out in the dark over the bay from the Alki peninsula area across to downtown Seattle, and seeing the Space Needle and downtown skyscraper skyline lit up brilliantly and sparkling against the black sky. And it all reflecting in the water...god, it was just *gorgeous* *hanyaan sighs* Another reason I love this city...

Date: 2002-12-24 07:18 pm (UTC)Take a spin on the Space Needle for me, Kay?
*chuckles* Which makes me remember my old dream, of giant robots dueling using the Space Needle and the CN Tower... ^.^
Anywho, have a great Christmas, lass, may it be one of the best. *huggles*
Re:
Date: 2002-12-25 11:44 am (UTC)But yeah, I bet you'd like to be here in Seattle. ^_~ Tho we did get rained on yesterday, and looks like it's doing so again today. And it's *extremely* windy today, too. I heard that some of the surrounding counties like Whatcom are having power outages--the Sound is really rough looking, all white-capped. Trippy. ^^; I'm glad we're being indoors all day today.
But have a happy one! *hugs* ^__^

Re:
Date: 2002-12-25 11:49 am (UTC)But thanks *hugs bunches*, and you, too! It is proving to be a good one, both in terms of getting stuff, and in terms of being with family--but also in having so many people out there who I'm thinking of and who are thinking of me. It really is proving to be one of the best. :)
Laters, and have a happy!
