I understand the whole aversion thing - it's perfectly normal. Just keep on keeping on, as my dear mom likes to say.
It's funny you mention the staying at home thing because I saw a news blurb about how more and more women are staying home to manage the household, even though they don't have kids. They interviewed some couples who swear they are better off because one of them is staying home, managing everything and saving on gas, lunches out, etc.
My friend, who is a well-heeled software type person, did this for a few months and loved it. She went back to work eventually because she commands a higher salary than her hubby, but she wants to do it again.
