note to self: quit forgetting crap

whitereflectionSo I was reminded on the drive in that I meant to buy Flogging Molly music, but managed to space it off. Boooo, me. Keep hearing that one song on the radio, then it drives me batty that I can't listen to more at work.
Night before last I was IMed by someone named 'smugsalmon'... Naturally they didn't ID themselves (I so hate that people make me guess), so I've no clue if it's someone I know or just some random stranger.
We seem to have skipped from winter straight to late spring--got to 67 yesterday and is predicted to be 64 today. Naturally that means the building went from slightly cool to stuffy and warm overnight. Fan time, yes.
The end-of-fiscal-year ordering slam is definitely hitting. Normally there's 25-100 orders to queue each week--today there's at least one batch of near 300 (if not two, goddang, did I hear my supervisor right??) It's all the subject specialists, but definitely a big contributor is the one asstard faculty member who last year put off nearly all ordering until the end. Nice thing about tenure is people can reprimand you for not doing your job--even your higher-ups--but you can just keep *not doing your job* and they basically can't touch you. :D :D And you get like 3x the pay that the peon staff members get :D :D Ain't that *great*?
In better news, finally did something I've been meaning to for ages last night. Several months back I noted a LJ community for an all-female WoW alliance guild, and I finally poked myself to talk to them last night. So non-raid nights I can finally get some draenei (and even nightelf) time occasionally, finally get back to some of the alliance bits I've been missing, while in a really comfortable group of people. It's such a refreshing break from the NW crowd, who at times really wears a person down with the overly-male atmosphere (it's not the obsession with boobs or pr0n that gets me--hell, I'm a pervert, I like that stuff too--it's the disrespect, dismissal, if not derisive attitude toward women). Not like they're all like that; they're mostly a good group of people--just like 25% are guys that raise my hackles. The adage about a few bad apples does hold true. So yay for Daughters OfThe Alliance.
