Scuzzy!Di makes an announcement...

whitereflectionBack from Shakespeare on the Green...the Tempest was really, really good, and they made it all very trippy in the way they produced it. Trippy costuming, trippy special effects, trippy but awesome music (again, love that digeridoo). A lot of fun--though I did nod off at times, idiot me for having stayed up too late too often past few nights. >_<; *flails* Hanging out during the day was amusing, too--was *DAMNED* hot, but we still talked, and I even tried to sketch some. And three Japanese exchange students sat with us during the intermission and last half of the play--but we unfortunately couldn't communicate well. Mostly we smiled at each other a lot. ^^;; I shared my Ding Dongs. *grins*
But now we're back in the happy air conditioning--but I'm disgustingly scuzzy. Covered in bugspray, sunscreenspray, citronella smoke...and the spray getting in my hair, combined with wind and the umbrella I was using to try to shade myself snagging my braid has turned it into a scuzzy, ratty, tangled mess. Yeek. I need a shower, if I can do so without falling asleep on my feet. ^^;; *wobbles*
But first...the announcement. XD Yes, my birthday is still a month and a half away, but half of my present arrived today. Specifically...
A metallic blue Cort X2 electric guitar. Hot fscking damn. XD XD XD (The dealer I got it from even gave me a free gig bag, too! :D )
I can't tell you how ecstatic I've been about getting this. It is, in an odd way, the beginning of a long-held dream come true. I have wanted to play another musical instrument since giving up the clarinet in jr. high--electric guitar has always, always been something I've dreamed of working with. Folks have heard me say so for far, far too long I think. ^^;;
No, I can't play it yet, even to test it out. First, because the Johnson 36W Amp (and free digital tuner ^^ ) that is the rest of my birthday present won't get here for another couple days. I also need some basic accessories--picks, a strap, a cord to hook guitar to said amp, some music... Hmmm, could use a stand, too. But most of all, I need lessons. *BIG* time. I know *Absolutely* nothing about playing any sort of guitar--I don't even know what you call all the parts, other than I know those bits are the strings. ^^;; Can we say newbie, anyone? Er.
But it's here, and I've gotten to finally touch it, hold it, and finally give it the name I've been pondering for a week now.
I'm calling it Unmei no Kaikou, which I've seen translated as Fated Chance Meeting. I'm calling it this, because it fits, considering how I stumbled into acquiring it--and because of how I have, over the course of my life, stumbled into people and things that are so very important to me now. And yes, the name comes from a track off the Yami no Matsuei OST--if I remember right, it plays during my absolutely favorite scene between Tsuzuki and Hisoka. (And thinking about it, the concept of Unmei no Kaikou is so very fundamental to the relationships that touch me most in my favorite anime--think of when Heero and Duo first met, when Tsuzuki and Hisoka did, when Subaru and Seishirou did, when Ken and Aya, when Shuichi and Yuki...I could go on and on and on, but I won't.) Boiled down, to me it signifies that first moment, that first fateful encounter that is the very beginning of something big, potentially life and self-altering.
Yeah, I'm making it out to be more than it is, I'm sure. But...eh. ^^ It carries a lot of meaning for me--not to mention a lot of hopes and dreams. And I've long craved a musical creative outlet; I play with art and writing...something musical just *needed* to be there, too. Something kept telling me that. Everyone has their ways of finding ways to fly--now I've just got to start testing my wings. :)
