I shouldn't be surprised.

whitereflectionYou know, there was a *perfect* opportunity for someone like say, my department chair or at least my supervisor to give me kudos in our department meeting this morning. The point was raised that we'd received a massive amount of shelf-ready books due to the vendor's ineptitude plus the holiday break. Thirty boxes in five days, when maybe we get 2-4 in that sort of timespan. And that ALL of those items, save a small handful of problem books (ie needing call numbers, subject headings and such), are now on the shelves.
Doublechecked and on the shelves (so they should at least recognize Anj for filling in for our lack of student help and doing that right?), or fully catalogued (HELLO. Accomplished by yours truly here), checked, and sent to the shelves. But they didn't fuckin' blink an eye. It was totally glossed over, blown off, and moved on to the next agenda item.
Seriously. I am dinged if I'm ever not giving 100%. I get this attitude from those above me that I'm a slacker, that I'm not worthwhile or useful like everyone else. Yet I not just get the fucking job done, I get it done *fast* and *correctly*, and I'm working extra to do it, and I'm giving well over %100. And not even one tidbit of recognition. Not any thanks, not any 'hey, good job', certainly no 'gee, you went above and beyond'. Nothing, when for once there was a chance to show that I can shine, too, just like everyone else, when gathered with my peers and higher-ups. I'm not even asking for money here, since I don't get profit-sharing or bonuses or anything like that. Just some gd recognition.
Other people got kudos in the meeting, you know. Other people are treated like they're valuable, some even like they walk on water (though yes, a few do). But I am not other people. I don't get jack.
