Went to Nebraska City today with brother Dave and his g/f Shannon. Did a brief stop at what was John Brown's Cave and is now being called Mayhew Cabin--a stop on the Underground Railroad. Not much to it, just a replica of the cabin, a walk through the tunnel (that was once just big enough to crawl through), some old buildings and items from other places--not sure why they have them there, just...historical-ish, in the time period, I guess. Also went to an Embers restaurant to eat food that was almost entirely deep fried.
Then did a visit to one of the orchards nearby, picked our own apples (dude ♥), walked through the corn maze (damned stuffy and hot down amongst the stalks). Got some pie with caramel and ice cream d ^_^ b and picked up some honey, apple cider, cherry cider and some apple donuts. Also did something rather different :o The orchard also has a vinyard, and they were offering wine tastings, 4 different ones for 5$. So I tried cherry, concord grape, peach, and apple wines (all together was equal to a normal-sized glass, really)--the cherry was really good, imo, so I brought home a bottle. The first bottle of wine I've ever owned that wasn't cooking wine o_o Now I need to buy a cork remover. Had to get coached by my brother of how to store it, since I won't go through it very fast. ^^;
The only bummer about the trip was that it's the sort of thing usually done when fall's in full-swing, when it's jacket weather and grey and the air is crisp, and when the leaves are brilliant with color, already fallen or falling. But for some reason we're having a warm spell again, was very sunny, and while the color change is starting to happen, it's going to be a couple-few weeks before it's full fall. Weird that it's coming late this year. Just about October already.
Now to just chill for the evening ♥ Gotta do bills and finish laundry tho. Waffling between going to do Alterac Valley PVP in WoW (it's a bonus honor/rep weekend, but I'm just kinda feeling eh on it :x) or instead playing some FFX. FFX might win. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah so wish I had KH2, am so in the mood to try that. I think I may not last much more before I finally give in and get it and the guide--less than a week I'm thinking. :| Stupid fan infatuation-obsessions controlling my life. >:E!!
Have to admit, didn't think I really dug Utada Hikaru's song Passion at first. I know I hadn't really gotten into Simple and Clean as much as others had. But now, I think I like it very-very-very much :x D: Have several versions, both vocal and orchestral, and I'm playing them *a lot*. And the more I listen to it the more I love it *utterly*. Gah.
