Back during the holidays one of my aunts passed along a loaf of some not-homemade-but-still-nice cranberry walnut bread to my mother, and I decided to make French Toast with it, finally did so last night. The egg part I doctored up with: a splash of orange juice, the juice squeezed from two clementines, vanilla, cinnamon, & pumpkin pie spice. Also made a sauce for on top by poaching frozen cherries (thawed) in some real maple syrup, honey, the juice and zest of one clementine, a splash of orange juice, vanilla, and a little water, bringing all to a boil and simmering for a good half hour til it was thick, then allowing it to cool--mixed all of that with two sorts of cream cheeses brought to room temp (regular honey nut 8oz and whipped brown sugar 8oz), and warmed over very low heat on the stove, stirring occasionally. Turned out pretty well, and the house still smells of French Toast.
Also: five days. Five more days. Commencing countdown, engines on \o/
