Dec. 27th, 2009 10:21 amEarlier this year, I'd had a rather nice LG 24" monitor die. Been on a backup 22" which was nice, but always wanted to go back to 24" so that's what I'd asked the husband for for Christmas. Just Samsung this time, like his, since it looked so good, and since we've had such horrid luck with LGs dying at about a year old.
What he got, though, is a 25.5" Samsung, and it is a goddanged *beast*. It's massive. ._. Huge and massive and it's actually *also* an HDTV that I could attach our cable to, or videogame systems, or blueray DVD players to if we ever get one. It is amazing. ._. I have named it Sasquatch, because I am a dumbass that names even a monitor.
Also got way too much stuff from the mother (ES Posthumus' Cartographer CD, Roman Dirge's latest Lenore comic and a t-shirt of same, the latest Yotsuba&! volume--which is SO FREAKING CUTE, a very nice cutting board and some other kitchen stuffs, a variety of books--including Kerouac's Big Sur, Richard Wright's Haiku, a paperback of Gaiman's Anansi Boys and hardback of his The Graveyard Book (Caldecott winner, neat!), and the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers Omnibus (underground comic from the 60s, was a big deal when Dad let us read his few issues when we hit jr. high age :p)). Cash from Dad and an Amz gift card from my brother and his gf will mean I can *finally* dig into the CDs/mp3s on my wishlist yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ♥ [Edit: How could I have forgotten?? *flails* Also received Supernatural season 2 DVDs *glee* \:D/]
The storm definitely kept us hiding inside, even postponed folks coming over last night since there was no way Anj could get her car unstuck from the alley where her apt. parking is. Sidestreets are only finally being plowed today. About to head out for day 3 of shoveling (James and I the night before last, Mom and I yesterday, Mom did pretty much everything this morning before I got up--but I yelled at her to stop and so am about to head out to do the end of the drive and the sidewalks where the snowplows have dumped the stuff from the street, which will be uuuuuugly but oh well.) Mom did a turkey dinner on Christmas (tofurkey for her), and I did a crockpot stew yesterday, so we are sitting on freaking *tons* of leftover foods \o/ \o/ \o/
In WoW, have started yet another deathknight, this one Samuael since there's no way I could get Sam or Samuel by now. :p It is sad that he has no Dean to hang out with. *dorks*
