whitereflection: (malik your scars are beautiful love)
Huh. Gotta like losing all internet connection for hours this afternoon/evening, for no discernible reason whatsoever. >_o Been seeing lag in game and on web pages for a couple days since some of the major storms, then today it went from bad to worse, total crash and burn nosedive. Wasn't the router, had to have been either ISP or modem. When I called Qwest, they *swore* there weren't any outages.

Scheduled service for Monday, was more upset than I should have been to be looking at no nets for two days--then late tonight all of a sudden poof we have service back. O_o No idea what fixed it, just came back. So...I guess there was an outage after all? And Qwest was just either fibbing or clueless (or both...)? I dunno.

Middle of the night tornado warnings suck. D: Just was starting to get to sleep, and this good fucking grief *wind* woke me up. Wild, wild thunderstorm, and now I know what they mean about wind sounding like a train, because I thought it was going to blow my windows in. And they say that the funnel cloud was spotted in the Millard area where I live D: That there's damage to the Target/Walmart complex and some houses about a mile south. Aasdfdskjfdkf. Holy hell, I've never had one so close.

Least it wasn't a full touch-down, just forming over, skipping through. Jeez, I'm freaked out. Allegedly the warning's ended for us now, but the sirens are still going...or maybe they're finally off. Now'm all nervous to go upstairs and back to bed. I wonder how long I could just sack out on the couch. : /

post-storm

whitereflection: (seto window to the storm)
Wow, I guess damage from last night's storm is more extensive than I thought. Was a lot more widespread power outage than I'd realized (we just had a flicker), and some substantial commercial/residential damage in places, like that Walmart/Target complex. I guess there was one massive motorhome someone had had parked in the lot there that got picked up and slammed down in the worst of it. Several homes in areas south/southwest of us by a couple miles had roofs torn off.

Picked up a lot of minor branches in the yard, and Mom and I helped the usual him as he cleared out our gutters of what can only be described as compost (yay for a spring's worth of maple seed helicopters). We did sustain damage to our backyard maple tree, though, and will be having tree-trimmers out to repair it this week. It's a nasty twisting-ripping wound, and we've got two 25-30ft branches on our roof, between the solar panels and the pipe where the power lines enter the house. At least the roof/shingles and panels seem to be okay. Could be worse--Mom saw a house several blocks away where a tree had fallen over onto the building itself. Lot of damaged/leaning trees and snapped-off at the base trees all over the Millard and further south/southwest areas. Both of ours seem still stable and standing.

Major headache last night during the storm, woke up with it returned. Hopefully the caffeine helps, also will be nice if the weather system continues to move on.
