No idea why, but this poem keeps lurking in the back of my mind recently. Maybe it (in a terribly stupid geeky way) is because of the whole fire mage/frost mage & who reigns supreme thing that tends to come up in guild chat. Ahwell, Frost is ♥ anyway.
Fire and Ice
Robert Frost (1874–1963)
(From Harper’s Magazine, December 1920.)
SOME say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Also: Keep thinking of this one, too. Not really a Blake fan, stuff of that era's too stiff and formal for me, really--but I always have dug this one.
THE TYGER (from Songs Of Experience) 1794
William Blake
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

...I'm so tempted to make a yell/say/gchat macro for the Fire and Ice one. Would that not be the dorkiest of geek-dork things to do? Think I'll have to do that. :| ♥

It is even stupider yet that Fire and Ice then makes me think ByaRen-y thoughts. (Joining the IchiIshi thoughts already in progress...) Dork. Dooooooooooooooooooooork.
