I have a coworker, an older woman that probably is about 60, with a bit of a physical disability, and she's a decent person, intelligent, and works hard. We're not close friends or anything, but we say hi and whatnot. So anyway. I come in this morning, and I hear that last Sunday this woman was assaulted and raped by her 20-year-old mentally imbalanced neighbor. My mind is still reeling about this. Am so horrified, furious, and at times damned near in tears about what she had to go through. I'm just so incoherently angry--have always felt nothing but disgust for those that commit crimes such as that, but...just am so enraged, and she's not even someone I'm close to. It's just *so fucking wrong*. She's still in the hospital, but holy hell, how long is it going to take for her to recover really?
Don't know if someone really ever does. Hell.
Anyway. I think awhile back I mentioned a guildmate who got trapped in Lebanon when he'd gone there to visit extended family. Last week he'd gotten to Beruit (literally just with what he was wearing), then was sent with other Americans (though he actually lives in Panama, just is native US) to Cyprus. Guess they're being flown to the US and he should be back in Panama this weekend. I guess he's really shaken up by what he saw--he mentioned he's going to share a journal he kept while there. But still...another thing that's going to take time to recover from. Glad he's ok, all of us have been worried sick about him.
3 hours sleep last night after 2 the night before--so yeah, have been asleep on my feet today. Got a bottled green tea with citrus drink that is so sweet it's vile. Making myself drink it though, since otherwise I'd be unconsious. Think when I get home I may just sleep all evening, try to catch up. Mood is crap anyway--hormones and all that stuff going on around me.
Feels like they're overairconditioning the building today. (Ohyes, because they are. They've managed to break it so they can't turn off the AC. They've got someone here so they can turn on the steam, and thus turn on the heat to counteract the AC. OHTEHSTUPID. gg UNO.)
Ohyeah, game stuff. The group got C'thun to 11% of phase 1 Saturday (wasn't there) and last night we consistently got it to phase 2. Even got to his first vulnerability once. So progress. Just am kinda '...whee' about it atm. Feel like my performance was pretty mediocre though I was getting the hang of it by the end of the evening.
Also. Up to about chap. 230-231 of the Bleach manga. Tho I discovered the 226 I had was raw and not scanlated. Nuts. Need to see if anyone's got the scans for it.
