Yay, computers are back up. UNO is being University of No Organization yet again. Story thus far:

Some sort of electrical problem yesterday. So the buildings on the west half of campus had no power--except for the Library. But fixing the problem required full electrical shutdown, so everything was closed in the evening, and facilities did their work. Allegedly.

So this morning I get a call from the dept. chair not to come in until further notice, as *all* the buildings on the west half of campus still have no power. But then there was further notice that we had lights on at least, but not computers, so staff all got to wander in (emphasis on wander--I stopped at Starbucks for a pumpkin spice frappucino). Oh, but when I got there, the TV stations were still reporting us as closed (even though some classes in the west buildings were going and we were due to finally open at 9), facilities still couldn't give anyone in the Library administration a straight answer about what was going on (because we in the Library don't need information, no--speaking of which, the only way even our Library higher-ups found out we were closed at first was because UNO told the TV stations but *not the staff, not even our admin office and dean*), and the whole electrical problem still isn't fixed anyway.

They're finally able to bring the servers up, first for the catalog, internet, and database software, and finally for the website. But! We have to go through it all again tonight--shutting all the servers down, which takes an hour and a half--and face the same chaos of potentially no power tomorrow morning, so facilities can finish fixing the problem. Allegedly. Because see, it doesn't occur to them to just keep everything closed and continue to fix the electrical problem and resolve it for sure *today*...no, we have to do this close early/open late/disrupt classes/totally break online access after hours/keep staff in the dark thing for three days instead of two. Because that makes sense. Yes.

And for some reason being on my feet for an hour sorting bookcovers has left me exhausted-like. :x But at least I have the web for my two extra hours of Docs Desk-ness.

Other things on my mind, but being coherent takes energy. As this shows. *slumps on desk and craves sleep*
